NOTE When removing the clutch, first remove the


gearbox-differential unit as describedin sec-
3 tion 21-27 gearbox and differential.

REMOVING
1. Unscrew the bolts retaining clutch assembly to
flywheel
PRESSURE PLATE AND LINING
2. Replace assembly if signs of excessive wear,
hot-spots or deep scoring are noted.
3. Replace pressure plate assembly if linings are
found to be excessivelyworn.
4. Pressureplate misalignment should never exceed
0.25 mm.
REFITTING
5. Align clutch assembly using locating pin
1870443000 and tighten tools retaining assem-
bly to flywheel to torque.

- Replace gaskets whenever oil leaks

REMOVING-REFITTINGCLUTCH CON-
TROL CABLE
1. Release cable and clutch linkage sleeve.
2. Disconnect cable terminal from clutch
pedal.
3. Unscrew the bolts indicated, then remove
cable assembly from engine bay.

ADJUSTING CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION

Measuring clutch pedal travel


1. Pedal at end of travel
2. Pedal at rest
X. Pedal travel = 125 :t: 5 mm

Adjusting clutch pedal position


Proceed as follows to adjust clutch pedal:
- settle clutch release mechanism by press-
ing pedal fully down 2 or 3 times;
- check that travel "X" is 125 :J::5 mm. Mea-
sure travel with rule aligned with pedal
centre line. It is equivalent to the distance
between position where pedal is pressed
fully to floor and position with pedal at rest.

NOTE Adjust travel by turning clutch cable


nut and lock-nut.
