Operating instruction ELCO I 80

1. General

1.1 Operation

The ELCO I 80 testing unit can be used for static testing of num-
bering boxes with IMPULS scanning and for testing of ring elec-
tronics (RISEC). The numbering box with scanning can either be
connected directly in the ELCO unit or over the so-called ring
electronic (RISEC) with the ELCO unit.

1.2 Part list

The complete unit consists of following parts:

- 1 ELCO I 80 unit
- 1 Power Supply unit for 220V/35 VA
- 1 Cable 10 pole for the box scanning
- 1 Cable 25 pole for the RISEC-ELCO connection

1.3 Putting into operation

The ELCO unit is connected by means of the cable and the7 pole
plug (5) of the power supply unit.
The numbering box scanning is connected by means of the 10
pole plug connection (13) directly with the ELCO unit.

In the other case (test with a RISEC) the cable of the numbering
box can for example be plugged in the plug position -1- of the
RISEC. The RISEC is directly connected by means of the 26 pole
- 25 pole connection cable with the ELCO unit. (Plug 25 pole
(11)).

2. Safety hints

- -Never use faulty cabling or faulty plug connector.

- Never open the unit, if it is switched on.

Warn in g
- Don’t change plug connections, as long as the unit is switched
on.

3.1 ELCO test unit

4. Test of a numbering box with IMPULSE scanning without

"RISEC"

4.1 General

At first all connection lines must be made (also regard putting into
operation).
Thereafter the power plug (2) at the power supply unit is switched
on. On the LCD-display of the ELCO-unit following menu is dis-
played:

By means of keys (A) and (B) the operator may select the possi-
ble test functions. The corresponding function is then displayed in
the indication field.
By means of key (F) the test function is started.
Following test functions are possible:
- Scanning (figure control)
- Alignment
- Language (English, Italian, French, German).

4.2 Test function scanning

By means of key (B) the function scanning is selected and by

means of key (F) the function is started. The LCD display follow-
ing menu appears in the LCD display:

In the original state Ring 0 Box 0 appears in the display, and the
box interface (13) of the ELCO unit is selected. The connected
numbering box is then tested. The electronic reads the numbering
box with the scanning frame. Through rotating of the correspond-
ing scanned figure wheels the test result is displayed in the indi-
cation.

Following test results are possible:

- R = Wheel is correctly in position.
- ? = Half-position of the corresponding wheel.
- ??????? = Numbering box not connected.
.By means of key (C) the test function can be stopped.

4.3 Test function alignment

By means of key (B) the function alignment is selected and by

means of key (F) the function is started. On the indication follow-
ing menu is displayed then:

In the original state Ring 0 Box 0 appears in the display, and the
box interface (13) of the ELCO unit is selected. The connected
numbering box is then tested and the resulting value appears in
the LCD display.
- P = Figure wheel is correctly positioned.
- * = Figure wheel is out of the tolerance.
The corresponding scanned figure wheels are rotated until the
displayed character (-P-) changes to character (*) is displayed in
the indication. The distance measured on the figure wheel
between position (P) and position (*) is then the tolerance.
By means of key C the test function can be left.

4.4 Selection language

By means of key (B) the menu for language is selected and by

means of key (F) the function is started and following menu is dis-
played:

Language English
BC

By means of key (B) the language is selected and by means of

key (C) the menu can be left again.

5. Test of a numbering box with IMPULSE scanning and a

RISEC

5.1 General

At first all connection lines must be made, that means the connec-
tion line between the RISEC (26 pole) and the ELCO output plug
(11) 25 pole. Moreover a numbering box cable must be plugged
for example into plug position BOX 1.
Thereafter the power switch (2) at power supply unit can be
switched on.
On the indication of the ELCO-unit following menu is displayed:

By means of key (F) function "scanning" is started.

5.2 Test function "scanning"

After the selection following menu is displayed on the indication:

Scanning Ring 0 Box 0

By means of key (B) the ring is selected (cursor flashes) and the
value 1 is typed in, that means, ring 1 is selected. Thereafter by
means of key (B) the box is selected (cursor flashes) and the
value 1 is typed in. Thereafter press key (B) again (Values are
taken over). Thus plug place 1 is selected.

Remark:
The selection of other box plug positions from 1-12 is possible
and thus testing the RISEC by means of one box through plugging
the box in the corresponding plug positions.

All other test functions are equal as described under point 3.

6. Test of initiators LR-LA

The initiators can be tested through plugging initiator LR into plug

position (12) or initiator LA into plug position (14). The display of
function LR and LA takes place by means of light emitting diodes
F1 (6) and F2 (5).
