microbiome or microbiota which contains thousands of species adapted to grow

particularly in human body. Best example of these are the microorganisms in human
gut that helps to digest and synthesize vitamins. These microorganisms are actually
beneficial that helps to resist diseases and regulating nutrition. However, hearing the
words bacteria, parasites and viruses were always associated with infection or
disease. Such are pathogen, known as disease-causing agents that may lead
epidemic. Some diseases are plague, cholera, smallpox, HIV/AIDS and even today is
the SARS-CoV 2 with different variants.
Knowledge of the microbial world is highly dependent on technological
developments. Recent advances in microscopic techniques have made it possible to
visualize microbes. But, how microbes were first discovered? Who are the scientist
behind microbiology and parasitology? how those that causes infectious disease
preoccupied the minds and efforts of so many? Look at it then and now.
Task/Activities
Answer the following:
1. Give the significance of Microbiology and Parasitology to life forms
especially humans.
2. Give example of microbiome/natural microbiota and Pathogens in human
and describe it.
3. How does those diseases caused by pathogens were cured or treated?
