Welcome to this Extreme handbook: your simple guide

to success with the ExtremeDojoTM training program
Whether you are a partner or a customer, you can be sure of one thing: we are driven to
help you make the most of our technology. But we also want to make sure you’re having
a little fun along the way.
So, we invite you to explore ExtremeDojoTM, our updated and modernized training
program, designed to deliver an engaging experience as you learn about our products
and services. This guide is intended for partners and customers alike.
We know you want to simplify and automate your networks to drive digital transformation
efforts efficiently. But we also know that for you to make this a reality, your engineers need
vital skills and expertise.
ExtremeDojoTM has been a valued training resource for our partners and our employees
for many years now, so this is the perfect time for us to extend and expand our program
to include our customers.
ExtremeDojoTM helps to overcome two of the most common barriers to training, high cost
and taking time out of the office.
Now, our customers too can gain a deeper technical knowledge of all our Extreme
Networks products and fully understand the solutions that are powering today’s digital
transformation efforts.
Welcome to the ExtremeDojo TM
Our free, modular, video-based training courses, with subtitles in 11 languages on many
videos, are now available at no charge to everyone in our community and offers many
benefits. Our blended learning approach provides a short route to certification.
Plus an expanded range of fee based instructor-led training, we are now building a
substantial worldwide ecosystem of authorized training partners.
We’ve simplified processes and we now offer free recertification via our annual update
video model, which means you’ll never have to do or pay for a traditional recertification
program ever again.
We also recognize that no matter how dedicated you are, you can always use a little
motivation.
That’s why we’ve introduced several gamified achievement levels to keep you engaged,
with regular awards for progress on our martial arts-themed learning journey leading to
membership of our global community of technical experts.
And if you make it to a purple or black belt, you’ll also receive an ExtremeDojoTM package
of branded merchandise to celebrate your achievements.

As a network administrator overseeing 184 K-12 public schools, my team and I must be very
knowledgeable on a broad range of topics to support both our wired and wireless network.
With a busy schedule and limited travel budgets, the ability to access free, technical, video-
based training on-demand is critical to keep us informed. I love how the Dojo keeps track
of my progress, so I know where I have left off, and the simple layout makes it easy to move
from one module to another. I am excited to explore more! This new platform will help me in

What type of training options are available?

ExtremeDojoTM offers a choice of training course modalities depending on your learning
preference and budget. All sales courses for partners are online and free of charge.
Technical courses are available as free of charge modular videos, as well as through chargeable
instructor-led formats. Read on to learn the different options for technical training courses.

Examples of our Certified Badges
Recertification
All new partners and customer certifications (ESS, EDS and ECS) last for 12 months.
Recertification is simple and free of charge and anniversary dates remain the same if
recertification occurs once a year.
We have simplified recertification and you just need to stay up to date once a year to keep
your certification live. Recertification is on line and free of charge.
You will be auto-enrolled into a recertification module 60 days before your anniversary.
This module will appear in the enrolments section of the homepage and you’ll be sent an
email notification.
You’ll get reminder emails 30 days and seven days before the anniversary. The
recertification module will contain updated video training relating to your course.
The length of the video module will depend on how much has changed in one year.
It could be as little as 20 minutes.
If there is no new training content then you will either see a refresher video, or we’ll just ask
you to re-take the course exam. Again, this is free of charge. No exam vouchers are needed.
The recertification can be completed any time up to 60 days prior to the anniversary.
Your anniversary date remains on the same each year, even if you complete your
recertification early.

We are a paper light ‘GDE Hospital’ where patient care is heavily reliant on an always-on
network. That means it’s critical that our IT staff is trained appropriately to provide
timely resolution to any issues to ensure we provide the best possible service. It is
imperative we have 99.99% network uptime. However, finding the time for training can
be a challenge and getting a week out of the office for training needs to be carefully
planned. Having access to modular video training that is available free-of-charge and
on-demand means I can take 10 minutes of training here and there, and then book into
an instructor-led class when I get the opportunity. The new ExtremeDojoTM will give me
an incentive to learn more.

How do I sign up to take a course?

Once you found the technical course you are interested in, you have three options:

Select the view button for video only
This allows you to start watching the free
modular videos online. Access as much
content as you want for free.

Select the register and view button for
videos plus two-day certification lab
If you are interested in becoming
certified utilizing the video learning
option, select the register and view
button. This will bring you to the training
calendar where you can select the lab
date that best suits your calendar. Before
taking the lab class you need to have
completed the online video modules the
pre-lab assessment.

Select the register button for instructor-led courses
Selecting the register button will bring you to the calendar for the instructor-led classes, where
you can choose a date to suit you. After you submit your registration request, you will be
contacted by the authorized training partner running the class, to confirm payment.

To find the course and date that you wish to register for you can view the calendar. These
are available in different formats depending on how you wish to view them and even
search for the events by the date and/or keyword.
What else do I need to know?

Are there any free-of-charge training courses?
As an Extreme Networks partner or customer, you have access to all available online
technical training courses free of charge. Charges will only apply if you want to become
certified.
How can I confirm that I am registered for a class?

When you register for an instructor-led class your your request will be sent to the training
partner running the class. They will contact you to take payment and confirm your position
in the class.
How can I get certified with the video training?

You can use the free-of-charge video training as a basis to get certified. You take the video
training, then a hands-on lab class and then the certification exam.
Before you attend the lab class you will be asked to take an online assessment to check
that you are ready. If you want to take this certification path then please select the ‘register
and view’ button.
The system will ask you to select a date for the lab class as the first step so you can get
booked in ahead of time.
How can I organize a private custom class?

Please contact your local authorized training partner who can discuss your learning
requirements. If you need any help in locating an authorized training partner, please
contact learn@extremenetworks.com.
How can I get more sales training?

If you are a partner, you can explore PartnerDojo for more sales training as well as pre-
sales ESS and EDS training options.
How can I get a printed copy of a student manual?

Class manuals can be requested from your authorized training partner when attending an
instructor-led class.
