UNITY IN DIVERSITY

Peace is not unity in similarity but unity in diversity, in the comparison and
conciliation of differences.” “We may have different religions, different
languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race.” –
Kofi Annan. Unity in Diversity is distinctive feature of this beautiful nation
and binds people together in the bond of humanity and peace. Diversity
helps us known our differences, but unity helps us to appreciate every
difference and understand each other’s culture, language, religion, etc. for
example is the Philippines. Philippines have different languages, tribes,
religions and many more, but neither one of them suffer from discrimination.

Philippines have 8 major languages; Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilocano, Hiligaynon

or Ilonggo, Bicolano, Waray, Pampango, and Pangansinense, different in
languages but same nationality, living their own life with no discrimination
about their languages. Also their religion, they have Muslim, Christian, and
Catholic etc. different religion, different in believes, different church and
culture but not different in humanity. Some places of the Philippines like
Visayas and Mindanao has different tribe of people but even they have so
many differences they still help each other in the midst of crisis or in
everything, if you are asking of “how about Luzon?” yep, also in Luzon.
When you ask a Pilipino if a certain person with a different skin color,
different language, different religion makes him/her uncomfortable and if it
makes her feel different from that person, surely she/he will say no.

Our difference is not the one who will stop us from who we truly are, you
don’t need to change your language, religion or anything, be who you are
because our differences does not define of who you really are but you,
yourself. Diversity helps us to recognize are differences but Unity understand
our differences, appreciates every person’s nationality or anything, helping
each other in every different kinds of crisis, and that is what humanity is.
