The Hoyt Arboretum

The Hoyt Arboretum in Portland, Oregon, is a special place. It is a park. The park protects
trees. It has more than 6,000 trees, and more than 2,000 different kinds of trees. Some of the
trees are from Oregon. Other trees are from around the world. It is about 190 acres
(0.77sq.km). Portland is a crowded city, but the green space is not noisy or stressful. It is
beautiful.

The Hoyt Arboretum Friends are a group of people who protect this place. They want other
people to learn about nature. Every year, more than 350,000 people visit the Hoyt
Arboretum. People walk, exercise and relax. They see birds, tall trees and many other plants.
They learn about protecting nature and healthy living. There are also classes about nature
