II Reading
I have many acquaintances, but I don't have many close friends. It's difficult to make friends as
an adult because you don't have the same opportunities to meet new people as you do at school
or university. However, I became friends with a woman named Laura a few years ago, and our
friendship has grown stronger. We're now very close friends. What cemented our friendship was
when we went on holiday together. It was the first time we'd spent a lot of time together, just the
two of us, and we had such a good time that we've been on several holidays together since then.
Another person I'm very close to is my cousin, Sarah. We've always been in contact, even when
we were children. We used to write letters to each other all the time. These days, we email and
phone each other instead. One of the reasons we're so close is that we grew up together. We're
about the same age, so we were able to share a lot of experiences when we were younger.
Finally, there's my partner, Tom. We've been together for almost ten years now, and I love him
more and more every day. I fell madly in love with him the first time we met. I remember
feeling so nervous before I met him, and then when I saw him, I couldn't stop staring at him. I
felt like I was going to explode! Luckily, he felt the same way, and our love has grown ever
since. I feel fortunate to be with him because he's kind, caring, and funny. He's the love of my
life.
