"Mga Tala ng Aking Buhay", autobiography of Gregoria de Jesus wife of Andres

Bonifacio. In her autobiography she narrates her life when she’s growing until she met Andres
Bonifacio and joined the KKK. Before reading her autobiography, I thought she’s only married
with Andres Bonifacio but I learned that she was also married to Julio Nakpil and they had 8
kids which are Juana, Lucia, Juan F., Julia, Francisca, Josefina, Mercedes, and Caridad. She also
wrote in her autobiography her role at the Katipunan, she’s the custodian of the weapons,
documents and seal of the Katipunan.

In her autobiography, I conclude that she’s a very brave woman because she was
able to fight for the independence of our country from the Spaniards, she really plays a big
role in the Katipunan and almost give up everything to protect the documents and the seal of
the Katipunan. She also doesn’t fear death and it really amaze me that she was always able to
escaped from the Spaniards even though no one is accepting her because whenever she
hides, the families who’s accepting her was getting caught and killed by the Spaniards. I know
it’s hard for her because she sacrificed innocent people just to protect herself and hide from
the Spaniards. There are a lot of people she loved that dies because of her therefor she
cannot do anything because she wants to fight for the Katipunan and I really adore her in her
bravery because not everyone can do that to our country. Oryang is also an intelligent woman
because she was the first one to translate or decipher the (Katipunan) acts in code which
Emilio Jacinto sent to her in Pasig with a piece of bone extracted from his thigh when he was
hit by a bullet at an engagement in Nagcarlan, Laguna. She also considers herself as a soldier
which is true, because later on she was able to learned how to use rifle and manipulate other
weapons. She’s been through a lot and witness many encounters because of the desired of
unfurling the flag of an independent Philippines. There’s a lot of betrayals inside the
Katipunan because of the people who’s greedy for the power, but Oryang doesn’t write it in
her autobiography to respect the Katipunan. Instead she wrote a letter to Emilio Jacinto about
the execution of Bonifacio.

A woman like Oryang was really the true definition of hero because of everything
happened to her she still wants to fight for our independence, and we should learn from
them to always fight for our rights as a Filipino and don’t be closed minded on

what is happening in our country today. We should recognize all the heroes like Oryang who
