The timeline of events for Gharpar

1. The launch of Gharpar. Targeting the minority and low level income minorities.
2. Launched make up activities and conducted promotional activities on social media.
3. Strict hiring rules have been introduced.
4. In order to pre screen candidates, a one week orientation program has been conducted
5. A massage expert was hired in order to train the local beauticians.
6. Introduced an automated system to assign jobs.
7. Giving more focus to quality of service with the help of quality control team which records the
experience of customer’s previous visit.
8. The introduction of secret shopper program which prevented service providers getting direct
contact with the clients. Centralized inventory management also played a part here.
9. Increasing the external capital in excess of originally available one.
10. Partnering and working on leveraging technology with sim virtual wallet and app for better user
experience.
11. Entering into new markets like male grooming services.
12. Future plans to expand the services beyond Lahore.

Some areas where they could have done better:

1. Scaling – No proper scaling during the initial launch of gharpar. And it is important to make
expenditures they afford. This may effect their long term plans ( expanding services to new
locations)
2. Not focusing on SMART goals. It looked like their motive is only to make profit. Instead they
should have planned more on target numbers, scope of the market they intend to reach and
when to expand.

Lean start up logics of Gharpar include the following

1.Participating in the start up competition to test their business model.

2. They had a soft launch which included two trails before starting their business. This helped them to
get proper feedback from the customers which resulted in making few changes to the training and
recruiting process.

3. Scheduling appointments from social media and their website with the help of spreadsheets. This
made them understand their operating capacity and availability.
