When conducting maintenance on the scanner, make sure to turn its main power off. Failure may result electrocution or
injuries.

Make sure to turn of the scanner safety switch. Failure to comply may result in injuries caused by physical contact with
the rotating scanner.

Do not touch the radiator. Even if power is turned off, the radiator may be rotated by the wind.

RADIATOR:

if the radiator front face (radiator plane) is soiled with smoke, salt, dust, paint or bird’s droppings; wipe it with a piece of
soft cloth wetted with alcohol or water and try to keep in clean at all times. Otherwise, radar beams radiation effect on
it, resulting in deterioration of radar performance.

Never use solvents of gasoline, benzene, trichloroethylene and ketone for cleaning.

ROTATING SECTION:

1. The scanner unit needs lubrication. Remove the cap of grease nipple and supply grease with grease gun. Make
the oiling in every six months.
2. Apply grease evenly to the teeth of the main shaft drive gear and the encoder drive gear with brush. Greasing in
short intervals prevent from damage or worn out and extend service life. Greasing should be done at least once
in every six months.
3. Mounting legs and bolts should painted to avoid corrosion which may damage the scanner unit.

REPLACEMENT OF MAGNETRON:

Direct exposure o electromagnetic waves at close range will have adverse effects on human body. When it is necessary
to get close to the scanner for maintenance or inspection purpose, make sure to turn the indicator power switch in off
or standby position. Before doing any job inform duty officer and put notice board “Men at work”.

Make sure to take off watch as your hand may go close to magnetron. As magnetron is a strong magnet, it may damage
the watch.

When mounting new magnetron, do not touch the magnet with a screwdriver or put it on iron plate. Try to remove rings
and bracelets. After replacement connect the lead wire correctly.

Handling of magnetron under long-time storage:

The magnetron that has been kept in storage for a long time may cause sparks and operate unstably when its operation
is started. For stable operation do as follows-

1. Warm up the cathode for a longer time than usually. Keep it in standby mode for 20-30 mins after renewal.
2. Start the operation from short pulse and shift it gradually. If it is unstable during this process, return it to
standby mode immediately. Keep the state for 5 to 10 mins until the operation is restarted.

Magnetron replacement procedure for scanner:

1. Turn off the main power supply.

2. Before starting replacement work, turn off the safety switch of the scanner unit. (it is located near the cover)
3. Loosen the hexagonal bolts and remove the cover.
4. Check there is no remaining electric charge in the modulation high-voltage circuit board.
5. If safe remove the magnetron cables after proper marking.
6. Now remove the screws of magnetron fixture.
7. Magnetron is held by hook, be careful not to let it fail.
8. Use insulated screwdriver. If magnetron comes contact with any metal the performance may deteriorate.
9. Install new magnetron together with the fixture and tighten the screws to hold the cable.
10. Connect magnetron cables properly.
11. Box up the cover.
