One. Purpose
This control cabinet is suitable for the irreversible control of wire- wound
asynchronous motor (such as JR, YR, etc.) with three-phase alternating current of 60HZ,
440V and power to 315kw. BP4 series of frequency sensitive rheostat is adopted and
connected in motor rotor circuit for short time start. After start, it can be cut
automatically and is generally adopted in motor—generating set, air compressor, kinds
of water pump, steel rolling main electric machine, middle and small ball mills, etc. One
frequency sensitive rheostat is adopted when the power is 125kw or less. Two frequency
sensitive rheostats shall be adopted when the power is 125kw or more for star
connection after parallel connection.

Two. Structure
This control cabinet, with box type safeguard structure, is composed of frequency
sensitive rheostat, automatic air circuit breaker, AC contactor, thermal relay and time
relay component. This product is automatically controlled. Time relay is adjustable. The
starting time can be regulated and controlled freely within 30 seconds. Control cabinet
plays protective role while short circuit, overload of electric machine and disappearance
of circuit voltage.

Four. Working Conditions
1. Mounting height shall be no more than 1000m;
2. Ambient temperature shall be no more than ＋40℃ and no less than ＋30℃;
3. Relative humidity of air shall be no more than 85% (equivalent to ＋20±5℃);
4. The locale has no conduction dust or gas that may corrode metal or destroy
insulation;
5. The locale has no explosion hazard.
6. The locale has no excessive vibration, bump or vertical slope exceeding 5°.
Five. Starting Performance
When the electric machine is started, the starting current of power supply incoming
line is 1.6-2.5 times of rated current of motor. The continuous starting time allowed is
90 seconds and the regulation at ex-work is about 15 seconds. If the total continuous
starting time reaches 90 seconds, the cooling time after starting shall be no less than 4
hours. Therefore, this product can be only used for long-term break starting and is not

suitable for frequent operating conditions.

Six. Installation
1. See Fig.1 for overall dimensions, foot installation dimensions and installation
position of electrical appliances.
2. The power supply of three-phase alternating current of 60HZ and 440V in the
incoming line side shall be connected with L1, L2 and L3 in the top end of automatic air
circuit breaker QF1.
3. AC power supply in the outgoing line side is connected with stator winding connector
of motor from U1, V1 and W1. Three ends of Z1, Z2 and Z3 of AC contactor KM2 are
connected with rotor winding connector of motor. If current transformers TA1 and TA2
are LMZ-0.5 type, two-phase outgoing lines at the bottom of AC contactor KM1 shall
pass the center hole of current transformer separately, and then be connected with stator
winding connector of motor. The selection of numbers of passing the center shall make
the current ratio equal with the ratio in the ammeter.
4. Earth wire shall be connected with the earth stud of control cabinet frame firmly.

Seven. Use and Regulation

After AC power is introduced into the control cabinet, close the knife switch QF2
and green light turns bright. Place automatic air breaker in opening location, press the
start button SB2, AC contactor KM1 is activated and the red light turns bright. At the
time, the time relay KT begins to operate. After a certain period of time (i.e.: setting
time), the moving contact of its time closing is closed, which activates the intermediate
relay KA. And then, the AC contactor KM2 works and the green light turns off. After
KM2 operates, KT is switched off and returns to the original state, and then, KA is
switched off and returns to the original state. Press the “stop” button SB1, KM1 is

switched off and returns to the original state and the red light turns off. KM2 is switched
off and returns to the original state and the green light turns bright.
According to the loading condition of electric machine, the delay time limit of time
relay shall be regulated in advance. After each wire connection is confirmed to be
correct and firm, close automatic air circuit break and carry out motor starting test with
load for further confirming the delay time limit of time relay. Because frequency
sensitive rheostat is equipped with tap, it shall be regulated according to conditions
during operation. If less starting current is required, larger number of turns shall be
connected. Thus, the starting torque would be less, steady rotary speed in the late stage
of operation would be lower and starting time would be longer. If greater starting torque
is required, less number of turns shall be connected. Thus, the starting current would be
greater, steady rotary speed in the late stage of operation would be higher and starting
time would be shorter.
Thermal relay RJ is automatic reset type at ex-work. If you want to regulate it into
manual reset, rotate the screw in flank hole of thermal relay in counter clockwise
direction for three or four cycles. In the operation process of electric machine, if
malfunction of thermal relay occurs, the operating current of thermal relay can be
increased moderately.
Eight. Maintenance and Overhaul
1. During the usage of this product, dust shall be removed at any time and contact
between each electric appliance shall be inspected periodically. Repair immediately if
any abnormality is found.
2. When the AC contactor is working, if any noise or timed release is found, wipe the
dust deposition or oil sludge on magnet planed surface. If the application is affected by
contact singeing, smooth the contact by fine file.
3. Periodically inspect whether the insulation resistance of insulation resistor of
frequency sensitive rheostat is greater than 1 MEG. If not, it shall be dried and used till
the insulation resistance resumes.
Nine. Order Instruction
Frequency sensitive rheostat shall coordinate with controlled electric machine
properly. Therefore, the model, capacity (JR117-6, 115KW), loading condition of
voltage and current data of rotor of controlled electric machine shall be notified while
ordering.
