Prevention of Covid-19
Introduction
Globally, as of 2:00 am CEST, 24 April 2020, there have been 2,631,839 confirmed
cases of COVID-19, including 182,100 deaths, reported to WHO. Many people do not realize
or even ignore the number of people infected with Coronavirus and do not even care about
the large number of deaths that touches the number of 182,100 people who died for a while.
For that we need public awareness to prevent and reduce the impact of this Coronavirus. This
must be realized by the public so that the Covid-19 chain that is increasingly widespread
breaks so quickly.
Because Covid-19 many people die in vain, actually Covid-19 prevention is easy to
apply in everyday life, such as keeping a distance of several meters, wearing masks wherever
we go and many more. Prevention is better than cure, the saying goes. With the awareness
and good cooperation between the government and the community, of course we can jointly
break the chain of the spread of this virus.
What is COVID-19?
Of course, the government has encouraged its citizens to always wash their hands
every time they do any activities and after doing any activities. Washing hands with running
water and soap for 20 seconds is very effective to kill germs and even help us from spreading
coronavirus. Hand washing can be done using any type of soap. Or we can use alcohol
instead, because germs won't stand up to alcohol, even they will die.
Many people out there who have difficulty to wash their hands with running water
when they are doing their activities such as working, traveling outside using public
transportation facilities and even meeting colleagues outside. WHO explains that hand
washing is more effective with running water and soap to kill viruses, but if there is no
running water around us, we can use hand sanitizers which are also quite effective to kill
germs. It is highly recommended that we wash our hands frequently so that we avoid
COVID-19, and also medical experts advise us not to touch our eyes, nose and mouth.
Consuming healthy and nutritious food is one of the ways that is very easy to be
applied at home to increase our endurance. It is highly recommended that we consume more
fruits and vegetables. WHO says the consumption of raw or undercooked animal products
should be avoided. Raw meat, milk or animal organs should be handled with care, to avoid
cross-contamination with uncooked foods, as per good food safety practices. Because there is
currently WHO technical guidance on surveillance and case definition, laboratory guidelines,
clinical management for suspected new coronaviruses, home care for patients with suspected
new coronavirus, infection prevention and control, risk communication, commodity package
of disease, and reducing transmission from animals to humans is available on the WHO
website.
Even in Indonesia, as the Ministry of Architecture said, red ginger, guava, coconut oil,
and quinine pills can prevent us from COVID-19. Because materials like that can increase the
resistance of the human body which is believed to thicken humans from viruses. And many
drugs from abroad such as avigan, Tamiflu, and also kana pill drugs that are being developed
in Indonesia at this time.
The importance of using a mask
Using a mask is also very important to prevent the virus from us and for others. As the
Indonesian government says: my mask protects you, your mask protects me. When we use
automatic masks, we do not spread the virus from our nose or mouth, especially when we are
sneezing and coughing. By using a mask, we will not spread the virus
Not only washing our hands we prevent the virus, when we travel outside, we also
must wear a mask, because we do not know anyone who contracted this virus. Better to
prevent it by using a mask every time we go out of the house.
It is not only the people who have to use masks for their safety, the most important
thing is that medical workers are obliged to wear masks when they are handling patients
infected with COVID-19. Health care workers should wear medical masks when entering a
room where patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are admitted, Use particulate
respirators at least as strong as the US National Institute for Safety and Health Certified N95,
European Union FFP2 standards, or equivalent, when conducting or working in settings
where aerosol-producing procedures, such as tracheal intubation, non-invasive ventilation,
tracheotomy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, manual ventilation before intubation, and
bronchoscopy is done.
When we use masks, we don't have to use national standardized masks that are
branded, the Indonesian government says that we use masks made of cloth is also enough to
prevent us from viruses and so that there are no reason people say that the price of masks is
expensive. Indeed, at this time the price of masks soared, but we can make your own masks
or buy masks made from cloth for repeated use.
It's better to stay at home compared to traveling at home, indeed we can still be
allowed by the government to go out of the house if there are important things like buying
food needs. It is not recommended for us to travel out of town or even abroad for now.
Preventing COVID-19 by not traveling is also very important, if we are one of the people
infected with the virus and when we get out of town or country, then we are carriers of the
virus for them, or vice versa if we have healthy people and are not infected with the virus, but
we do not know people out there, when we are determined to keep traveling out of town or
country and we do to other people who turned out they were infected with COVID-19 then
we will automatically be infected as well.
For this reason, WHO also recommends limiting travel abroad. It is wise for sick
tourists to delay or avoid traveling to the affected area, especially for elderly tourists and
people with chronic diseases or underlying health conditions. General recommendations for
personal hygiene, cough etiquette and keeping a distance of at least one meter from people
who show symptoms are still very important for all tourists. This includes
And also, when we travel out, we must maintain our personal hygiene. Make sure we
bring hand sanitizers wherever we are. But if we don't have a very important need, we better
stay at home and do positive things. This step is for our own safety
In Indonesia, regulations are prohibited from going home for us citizens of Indonesia
and this must be obeyed. If we violate then we will be subject to a heavy penalty. However,
most residents remain determined to travel by tricking officers by riding into large trucks.
This is a form of self-distrust towards him even against those he loves in his hometown. They
remain desperate to go home humming in trucks and not only that, many private cars are
asked by officers to make a U-turn because they were caught making a trip aiming to
accommodate the yard. Good cooperation between the government and the community is
expected. Indonesian people must realize that this prohibition is very important for their own
safety and the safety of their loved ones, all of this in order to break the chain of COVID-19
Social Distancing
Keeping your distance is also very important and very easy to apply. In order for us to
avoid and prevent people from viruses, we need to be on guard as we keep at least keep a
distance of at least 1 meter (3 feet) between you and others. Why? When someone coughs,
sneezes, or talks, they spray small drops of liquid from their nose or mouth that may contain
viruses. If we get too close, we can inhale droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the
person suffers from the disease. We are also advised not to travel to crowded places because
we may have close contact with someone who has COVID-19 and it is more difficult to
maintain a physical distance of 1 meter.
Preventing COVID-19 can also be done by not in physical contact with inanimate
objects even we are not recommended not to shake hands with one another. The Indonesian
government recommends that when we want to touch an object it is better not to touch it
directly by hand. Even when we want to open the door it is better to use our elbows to avoid
spreading the virus.
Prevention that can be done now is by worshiping, working, and learning from home.
It is true that this is very difficult to do. But inevitably this must be applied so that the victims
of COVID-19 do not increase. For the time being, all countries have adopted this measure
recommended by WHO. Likewise, in Indonesia, the Indonesian government has cooperated
with all religious communities not to hold worship in the place of worship they normally use,
because it is tantamount to crowding. Some people already understand this is for the safety of
themselves and others, but many people who remain determined to worship for their reasons,
they are not afraid of viruses, but then they still fear God. They may be misperception, the
government does not intend to prohibit its citizens to worship, but the government only asks
its citizens to worship from home alone. Especially when it is fasting month, is it expected to
not gather in places of worship and perform worship activities in a crowd. We must
understand that everything is for the good.
Not only worship from home, but also doing work should be from home. Although
this policy is very controversial with workers who work in the field who say if they are laid
off, they have no work and they don't get work. Many workers were laid off due to this
incident. But this step must be obeyed, because if we obey it, the faster this virus stops and
the sooner we will be able to carry out our activities as usual compared to us being
determined to work and the more widespread the virus is and attacking us, the longer we can
be active normal
For students they are also affected by this incident. They are forced to study online by
the government to reduce crowds. And many complaints made by students because of the
ineffectiveness of learning from home and the absence of explanations from the teacher or
lecturer clearly. Of course, direct learning is more effective than online learning. Many
students experience difficulties such as the lack of facilities for learning such as gadgets and
laptops, even for students in their rural areas it is difficult to get a signal. Many complaints
are felt by Indonesian students, but indeed once again a policy like this must be obeyed so
that we avoid COVID-19. By learning from home, we will reduce crowds and help the
government to prevent the expansion of COVID-19. The Ministry of Education and Culture
said that the main key to success learning from home is good communication between
teachers, parents and students. With good cooperation, we can prevent viruses and do our
learning activities well.
Conclusion
COVID-19 is a virus that is dangerous for everyone in the world. This virus
originates from China. Many people died as a result of this virus. For this reason, prevention
is needed to stop this virus chain. Not only makes prevention very important, but cooperation
between the government and the community is also needed. Many ways we can do to stop
this virus like what the government has suggested to us. Like washing hands often before and
after doing any activity. By washing our hands, we will fight the viruses that stick in our
hands. Not only washing hands, consuming healthy foods we also need to apply to increase
and increase the immune capacity of our bodies from any disease. And we are recommended
by WHO not to consume animal foods for a while.
Prevention that is often violated for now is the community's indifference to wearing
masks. Yet when we use masks it's the same, we protect ourselves and protect others. Healthy
or unhealthy our condition, it never hurts us to wear a mask because we don't know anyone
out there who contracted this virus, because now there are people who have contracted
COVUD-19 which is asymptomatic. The next important thing is not to go outside the country
and get out of the city, because that will worsen and increase this virus. Then keeping
distance is also important, by not crowding we will be able to jointly break the COVID-19
chain, by keeping a minimum distance of 1-meter from others, we will not be infected and
transmit the virus. And also, we must avoid physical contact between people. The last thing
we must obey is we must do our daily activities at home, such as worship, work, and study
from home. If this is not applied, then the crowd will occur and the spread of COVUD-19
will be wider.
So, the government has made a policy that must be implemented by every citizen for
the sake of mutual safety. Staying at home is our step in helping the government to break the
COVID-19 chain. Prevention can be done together and with cooperation we will be able to
successfully fight this virus.
