THE BLESSING OF A FAITHFUL SERVANT

Judas Iscariot
- One of the twelve apostles notorious for betraying Jesus
- Latin word sicarius meaning murderer or assassin
Reason for the betrayal
- Greed
John 12:5-6

5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was
put therein.

Matthew 26:55

55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for
to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

- Demonic Influence
Luke 22:3

Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

Matthias
Acts 1:21-26
21
Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and
out among us,
22
Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be
ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
23
And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
24
And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these
two thou hast chosen,
25
That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that
he might go to his own place.
26
And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven
apostles.

Faithfulness brings a deeper revelation from God
Numbers 12:6-8

he said, “Listen to my words:
“When there is a prophet among you,
I, the LORD , reveal myself to them in visions,

I speak to them in dreams.

But this is not true of my servant Moses;
he is faithful in all my house.

With him I speak face to face,
    clearly and not in riddles;

he sees the form of the LORD .

Why then were you not afraid
to speak against my servant Moses?”

1 Corinthians 4:1-2
4 This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the
mysteries God has revealed. 2 Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove
faithful.

Psalm 31:23

but the proud he pays back in full.

Psalm 37:28
For the LORD loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.

Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed ; [a]

the offspring of the wicked will perish.

Psalm 97:10
Let those who love the LORD hate evil,
for he guards the lives of his faithful ones

and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

Faithfulness releases more material blessing

Proverbs 28:20
A faithful person will be richly blessed,
but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished

“To the faithful you show yourself faithful,
to the blameless you show yourself blameless,

“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his
household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master
finds him doing so when he returns. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
Matthew 25:21

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the
archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who
are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the
air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
