An approved supervisor for social workers seeking to license has met the
focus, and responsibilities of practice, have supervised experience, and passes the
licensing examination.
Some states require about 1000 to 3000 hours of professional work experience,
towards attaining positive change, create and implement a treatment plan, secure
and refer needed resources, evaluate and monitor improvement, and serve as the
client’s advocate.
The NASW Code of Ethics is guided by six ethical principles: service, social
and competence.
