Abstract:

Hypertension is one of the silent killer diseases. Hypertension is

consistent elevation of systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure or both.
It is one of the leading causes of death and disability among adults.
Hypertension has no cure but it can be controlled with proper diet, exercise,
lifestyle changes and medications and regular health check-ups. *(American
Heart Association, 2018).. To assess the blood pressure of hypertensive patients
among experimental group and control group before foot massage. To apply
foot massage to hypertensive patients in experimental group. To reassess the
effectiveness of foot massage in the level of blood pressure among hypertensive
patients in experimental group. To compare the level of blood pressure among
hypertensive patients between experimental group and control group.
Methodology: An interventional study was conducted to study the effect of foot
massage in blood pressure among hypertensive patients. A quasi experimental
pre-test, post-test with control group design was adopted. A non-probability
purposive sampling technique of 50 patients with hypertension was selected in
which 25 were in experimental group and 25 were in control group. Foot
massage was applied to interventional group; sphygmomanometer was used as
the tool to assess the level of blood pressure before and after foot
massage.Results:50 soles were enrolled in the study. The inferential statistics
and descriptive statistics were used to analyse the values. The calculated “t”
value (15.42) for the experimental group were higher than the table value,
which highlighted that foot massage had a significant effect on the blood
pressure among the patients with hypertension in the experimental group.
Conclusion; The intervention provided shows the significant reduction in blood
pressure among the patient with hypertension. The post-test blood pressure level
was reduced among the experimental group.
