1.How do you understand the following? Pitch -Notes-Staff-Clefs-Intervals-

Accidentals-Scale
- Pitch for us is the term we used when we are describing how high and low
the sound is. In pitch, we will determine if we are raising or lowering our voice
when we were singing because here in pitch, we are studying the tones
highness and lowness.

- Notes are the symbol which determine the pitch of a sound. It is composed
of its three parts: the note head, which all of the notes have, and
sometimes it is shaded and not, the stem, which is the thin, vertical lines
that is connected on the note head. All notes have stem except the whole
note, and some notes also have flag; like the quarter note, eighth note, and
the sixteenth note, which is the little line that comes off the top or bottom
of the note stem. Notes is place on the music staff and tell us how the
music will be sing or play by our instruments. Notes also give us information
about the duration of the pitches we will play in a given piece of music.

- The staff is the structure which is the 5 vertical lines (4 spaces) and where
the clefs and notes indicated. Staff is essential because without it, it would
be hard for us to read notes and determine pitch of music. Staff, also
spelled stave, it indicates the pitch of musical notes.

- Clef is the symbol that is placed in the beginning of the staff. It is also said
as a foundation of music where the notes are written. This is important
because we can determine if the note or sound is right so that the music
has a better outcome. It also determining the pitch of a particular line and
all notes of the staff.

- Intervals for us is it serve as the boundary of notes. Intervals are a

measurement between two pitches, either vertically or horizontally. Interval
is the pitch difference between two tones. It has a numerical value and a
quality rating. It is also labeled by its numerical value and its quality.

- Accidental is a sign that is placed to the left part (or above) a note to
indicate that it must be adjusted in pitch. Accidentals only last for the
duration of the measure in which they occur. This is a symbol that can be
used to determine if the pitch of a note needs to be raised or lowered. They
were originally called accidentals because they occur only occasionally in
the course of a musical composition like an accident.

- A scale is a series of musical notes that are organized in a specific order. It

is a set of tones from which you can build melodies and harmonies. It’s
tones are ordered according to their pitch.

2.What are points to consider when teaching melody? Explain each and give
example

1. It is important to set specific goals or objectives for each

music lesson. We future teacher should also be ready to be flexible
as the pacing of the class might be different from our initial expectations because we
are teaching elementary grades so we should not expect too high that the children do
the things perfectly. This is important for children so that they can do things right by
steps because they have goals and also for them to know if they have improved in
that regard. In learning music, setting goals is important as it helps us by knowing
precisely what we want to achieve. We know where we have to concentrate our
efforts. Example is before you start the lesson about music, you should have a list on
what you and your student must need to be achieved after the lesson.

2. In learning music, there are many ways to learn it. As an educator, teaching is more
effective if we divide our teaching into two methods: First, it is direct teaching where
we teach students important information regarding music. Second are the activities
and task related to music where here they can literally experience the music, such as
playing instruments to produce sounds, listening to music, analyzing music, and so on.
It will help the learner to be engage deeply into music. Example is you must prepare
your lesson plan well and you have searched some activities that will make your
student enjoy in the discussion

3.We should take into account the materials we will use in teaching music. Materials
such as audio, visual aids and instruments is important to make our music teaching
more effective, as well as for students to make it easier for them to understand
music. Because we are teaching kids and as what we all know most kids are attracted
to the things that are colorful so we must prepare materials that we know that will get
their attention to listen to us. Example is we prepared picture of colorful instruments

4.In teaching music, we should consider the methods we will use to evaluate the
knowledge of our students. We can evaluate by observing and giving a test to our
student. But, evaluating through observation and actual practice of music is much
better than giving tests because here we see, as a teacher, what are their abilities
and where they have weaknesses when it comes to music. Here we better measure
how well our students learned in music. Example is when we give quizzes to measure
what they get.

5. In our music lesson plans, it is also helpful if at the end of our teaching we give
praise, encouragement, and affirmation to our students on their learned and developed
skills in the field of music. It will also serve as an honor to the students and can be a
way to continue their initial knowledge about music. It will encourage the more and
enjoy what they are learning. Example is praising students to their great performance.
