Unit 2: Writing Assignment

In this assignment, you are going to write a proposal for a business.  Your description will include

information about what colors you will use and why.  As you prepare your paragraph, think about the

Unit Question, “How do colors affect the way we feel?” Choose one of the topics below for your

paragraph.

1. Write a proposal for a new business you want to create.  Your business could sell a product such as

clothing, computers, or a type of food.  Or your business could be a service, such as a restaurant, repair

shop, school, airline, or health service.

Criteria Marks

The paragraph contains at least 8 new words from unit 2. BOLD them. 5

The paragraph contains at least 3 sentences with WILL. Underline them. 5

The paragraph contains at least 5 adjectives with suffixes. Italicize them. 5

The paragraph contains information from Reading, listening or discussion as examples. 10

The paragraph has a strong topic sentence, subtopics, details, and concluding sentence. 5

The paragraph contains at least 5 compound sentences (and, but, so). 5

All the sentences support one topic and are well linked. 5

No more than 5 errors in spelling, capitalization and punctuation. 5

No more than 5 errors in basic grammar. (such as past and present tenses, subject verb 5

agreement, plural and singular nouns, infinitive and gerunds … etc)
