INSTRUCTION FOR UPDATE

S1415 -> S1685


Version 2.0

THIS UPDATE IS ONLY INTENDED IF S1415 UPDATE IS DONE BEFORE.


IF NOT, PERFORM S1415 FIRST AND THEN PROCEED WITH THIS INSTRUCTION

1 a. Before connecting VOCOM II, update Tech Tool to latest (at least to
2.8.31) update APCI database (TechTool > update product information).
Make sure to check the “Synchronize user profile” box.
This is to enable the third part of the instruction, CVSU programming.
Which is created to update a complete vehicle with less manual actions.

Be sure to disconnect VOCOM before running Update Product information.


If needed check to update firmware of VOCOM II.

b. Open Client Update. Download the SEM file spotted below. File name
may differ from screenshot below.

Should there not be a file existing, contact support.


Note: This is only needed once and then can be used on multiple
vehicles.

2 Connect a battery charger to vehicle, Connect TT to vehicle, start to check


mismatch, and if the truck has an alarm present then set the vehicle to
service mode.
If there is a mismatch on nodes (this does not apply to any part of SEM
SubHW), HW or sub-HW, run ‘Replace HW’ to solve the mismatch first.
IF problem with VMCU, please do the operation on VMCU first. If that fails,
contact TDS.

3 Update the truck using procedure below.

IMPORTANT: The sequence below is the only way we today provide an


update on the vehicle.
You cannot rush and try to do kits in another order, then chances are you will
have a corrupt ECU and more support will be needed.
Kits:
1 - UPDATE SW TGW, see next page for more info
2 - UPDATE SW SEM
3 - CVSU to update remaining nodes on the truck

Instruction for TGW3 update

TGW3 PROD HW – IF not correct, then go back to the TGW part in S1415/Bravo
instruction.
Contact TDS.
- P/N needed 23792143 Europe
- P/N needed 23792252 South America and India
Run Kit: 85157877
IF a new SIM-card EUICC, received from campaign insert in TGW3 and follow
separate instruction
“39806-2 Telematic SIM card, replace”
“39733-3 Telematics System SIM ID“

Before moving on, also run operation


“39824-3 Telematics connectivity, Check and activation”

If the second part, connection test is not green, run the third part of the operation as well.
Note: If connection setup is not green, wait another 15-30 mins and try again.

If none of the above works, contact TDS.

Instruction for SEM update, two steps

SEM2 PROD HW – IF not correct, then go back to the SEM part in S1415/Bravo instruction.
Contact TDS.
- DAB P/N 23893653 (spare part) or 23893650 (seen by TT)
- UDAB P/N 23893654 (spare part) or 23893652 (seen by TT)

Next part, check SEM DTC (D1FEL).


IF active, then please contact TDS. IF not, then proceed with the instruction.

Run kit: 85157874


Two parts will be performed, Step 1 will update the SW in the SEM and Step 2 will update
the apps and the Android part of the system. During the transfer of data from Tech tool
client to vehicle, no progress bar is presented.

Time for this operation should be about an hour.

Note:
Some vehicles may have a mismatch on FP-CAM. Regardless of this, it is not a stopper going
forward. At this point there is no way to resolve this mismatch.
“Replace HW” will not work. After operation is done, please check functionality.

IF navigation is failing due to map missing then you need to acquire a USB drive with correct
location according to truck specification in VDA.
Contact TDS.

IF you instead encounter problems relating to GPS, please drive the truck for an hour to have
the connection okay. IF there is still issue then contact TDS.

Instruction for CVSU update

Go to “Program” tab and select “Program Control Unit” and then make sure “Complete
vehicle software update” is selected.
There you will, at this time, find a service pack named “24_T2_1.3”. Depending on when you
do this action, the service pack and name can be updated.

Click on “Program” and the update of remaining nodes will begin.


Expected time for this is depending on amount of control units on the vehicle. Approx. 30-60
min.

Note: If CVSU not existing, contact TDS.
