1. INTRODUCTION.

WHAT IS DIGITAL MARKETING? : Digital marketing also known as online/ internet


marketing is the act of utilizing the internet with the use of internet based technologies like
desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile phones and other digital internet based products to
promote products, brands and services. It is the act of promoting and selling products and
services through the internet, it can also be seen as a form of E-commerce.

2. DESCRIPTION OF THE VOCATION.

a) RESOURCES REQUIRED: Digital marketing cannot be learnt by oneself; therefore


some resources are needed to learn the vocation. Some of which are:

 Blogs.
 Online courses.
 Workshops.
 Seminars.
 Social media communities.
 Online forums.
 E-books.
 Webinars, etc.

b) METHODS/PROCEDURES: Digital marketing has it various methods through which
candidates can utilize in carrying out what they have learnt, some of which are:

 E-Mail Marketing: E-mail marketing is the act of promoting, advertising brands, products
and services by sending messages directly to a group of people or individual.
 Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Search engine optimization (SEO) is the art and
science of getting pages to rank higher in search engines such as Google. Because search is
one of the main ways in which people discover content online, ranking higher in search
engines can lead to an increase in traffic to a website.
 Search Engine Marketing: Search engine marketing (SEM) is a digital marketing strategy
used to increase the visibility of a website in search engine results pages (SERPs).
 Content Marketing: Content marketing is a form of marketing focused on creating,
publishing, and distributing content for a targeted audience online.
 Pay-Per-Click Marketing: Content marketing is a strategy used to engage, attract, and build
an audience by creating relevant articles, posts, etc on different media.
 Affiliate Marketing: Affiliate marketing is the act of promoting brands, products or services
to earn a commission from the sponsor. This is done to generate sales and create awareness
of an available product or service.
 Instant Message Marketing: this is a form of marketing where the producer sends messages
to the audience directly; this allows brands to create a 2 way communication relationship
with its audience.

3. MARKETING STRATEGY.

As a marketer there is several ways to market to myself to the public, such methods are:

1. SOCIAL MEDIA: Social media has become a popular method used by different brands and
business owners to advertise or promote their products and services to the public. They do
this b either creating an account to publicize their work or pay people to market for them.
Several social media platforms have been effectively and efficiently used to advertise various
brands, from which the public has fed on and pushed through to make sure they secure
their version of products being promoted. Therefore, the use of social media will be very
effective in marketing my work. I would do this by creating social media handles on
platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and even Whatsapp, and then I would post my
content on the apps actively backing them up with the use of hash tags to help promote the
post or even do a paid promotion with the app to promote my work to the audience.

2. SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION: T his is the act of quality of a website to increase


engagement between the site and the audience. This means that I would upgrade the

quality and quantity of the contents on my site by creating content after much research of
the top sites on the first page of Google, upgrading my content to the quality of the top
posts and then I would build a link to my page to create engagement with the site. Using this
method allows my site to appear among the first pages to appear the first page of Google or
any search engine, therefore allowing the audience t gain interest in my content and causing
to reach out for enquiries and assistance.

4. BENEFITS OF THE SKILLS ACQUIRED.

At the start of this course, I was told about several topics that will be taught in the short run of the
course. One of which was digital/ social media marketing, I was taught how to create materials that will
used to promote brands, market their products and aid sales. I was taught how to make use of apps like
Canva, Picsart and the likes to edit and create flyers, banners, cards, and brochures and so on. Taking
this course has opened up my senses to the world of business and its strategies of marketing; it has
exposed me to the basic knowledge of digital marketing and how effectively and efficiently use it.

Since the commencements of this course both theoretically and practically, I have been able to secure 3
minute jobs in which I created flyers to create awareness and promote both the individual brand and a
business brand. I was given the knowledge of pricing according to the quality of my work and also
pricing according to the quantity of the product. Advertising can come in many forms, in the short run of
offering this course I have only been able to achieve the social media aspect of digital marketing where I
made use of Whatsapp to market my services and also provide evidence of my previous works to attract,
engage and build a customer base.

5. CHALLENGES.

In all that is done in life, there will be challenges faced especially acquiring a new skill or opening a new
business. I have across a few stumbling blocks that caused to have some shortcomings in the short run
of acquiring this skill, some of which are;

 INTERNET ISSUES: A major part of digital marketing involves having the marketer to promote
brands on the internet. Seeing as I am a student who lives a planned lifestyle, executing
strategies might be forced to come to a standstill due to insufficient funds to carry our these
plans, funds will be needed to purchase data plans and sometimes promote posts through the
help of an app like Twitter sponsored posts. To be a digital marketer, a constant online presence

is required to consistently search for customers and consistently share our creations to attract
customers.
 CLASHING TIME: As a result of the training course starting off very late, the time framed clashed
with that of my already fixed classes and it was little difficult to choose an appropriate time for
the classes. Even when the time has been fixed, the classes take place late and sue to the late
hours we would have classes for just one hour. This really limited the time needed to learn and
physically practice what has been taught in class
