Grade and Instructor Policies

Fall 2020 Student Recital and Jury Policy
All music majors will be required to record the pieces they have studied, during the semester, at their last session
of in-person lessons with their accompanist.  The number and type of pieces will be determined based on the
requirements of their area of study.  Students may utilize the room their lessons are in or arrange a time to record
in the Recital Hall.  Both CFA COM 166 and CFA DRA 56 have grand pianos.
Those who are not comfortable with in-person lessons, may record their music at home.
These recordings will be counted as the credits for both Student Recital and Jury.
Instrumental students except piano, are required to have a virtual jury for playing scales and etudes in addition to
recording their repertoire.  Dr. Mark Nelson will arrange a time for you and the faculty to meet virtually.

Use of D2L Brightspace: All grades for this course are posted in the D2L Brightspace Gradebook. Students may
view their grades by signing into D2L Brightspace and accessing the course.

Grade Determination and Grading Policies

Lessons: 80 %
Recital: 10 %
Jury: 10 %
A= 90-100
B= 80-89
C=70-79
D=60-69
F=59 and below

Withdrawal - Students must withdraw from the course by the withdrawal date in order to receive a "W". Students
who remain enrolled in the course after the withdrawal date will receive the grade they earn. Instructors cannot
issue a "W" as a final grade.

I—Incomplete (not included in GPA calculation) A record of ‘Incomplete’ as a grade will be made at the
student’s request and at the instructor’s option. A student must have completed 70% of the course work and be
passing the class for an incomplete to be considered by the instructor. This grade will negatively impact the
student’s completion rate. If no change of grade form is submitted within a year, the ‘I’ will be automatically
changed to ‘F.’

Late Work Policy

Missed lessons must be rescheduled
