Exercise 6:

You receive a large shipment of food for the office that needs to be stored in cupboards and the
kitchen fridge. At the same time, an executive approaches you and asks you to file an urgent
report due today. How would you proceed?

Answer: Time Management and prioritizing task is crucial in any work environment. It is vital to be
strategic in the action steps necessary to complete tasks at hand. In my previous work, I usually
experience situations like this. Managing my workload and answering the demands on deadline are
important skills in a fast paced industry.

If facing the situation described above, I would prioritize the large shipment of food for the
office because it might get spoiled if not refrigerated right away. But definitely, the urgency of the report
to be filed will not be taken for granted. I would ask the assistance from the company’s department
assigned with logistics to assist me in the storage of the delivered shipment. Then, I will immediately
accomplish the urgent report instructed by the executive.

Normally, I prioritize and act according to urgency. But there are instances where in you need to
see the bigger picture. It was necessary to act immediately on the shipment of food because it might get
spoiled and cause losses to the company. The task in filing of the report can be delayed for few minutes
and is truly attainable as long as you have the skills to do so.
