 Nike is an American
multinational company
specializing in
sportswear and
footwear.

 The company was founded in 1964 by student Phil Knight, a

middle distance runner on the University of Oregon team,
and his coach Bill Bowerman. Initially named Blue Ribbon
Sports, her first operation was to order 300 pairs of
sneakers from a Japanese firm for resale in the United
States. The first store of the company was opened in 1966.

 Nike is one of the world leaders in the sale of
sporting goods in the world. Products are
manufactured under the brands Nike, Air Jordan, Total
90, Nike Golf, Team Starter, Nike Air, Nike LeBron,
Space Hippie, etc. Nike also controls companies that
produce goods under the Converse and Hurley
International brands.

Nike's marketing strategy is based on partnerships

with successful and famous athletes, sports teams and
educational institutions. Nike is the first company ever
to win the Advertiser of the Year award from the
Cannes Advertising Festival twice. Nike was one of
the first companies to actively use online marketing.
Nike is also the official supplier of sports equipment
for the league.
 In 2009, Nike launched an AIDS charity in Africa
with the participation of Didier Drogba and other
professional footballers.
