Our idea is to build the mass transit system, one that is built by local women transporters
for women population.

BREIF DESCRIPTION

Gilfit has started a unique initiative where in busses are driven by women for female customers
the initiative was started in order to reduce female customers from the sexual harassment which
is very commonly faced by female customers.

Generally, women-friendly transportation is lacking. When comfortable commute is to reduce

the problem faced by the women in commuting daily in Karachi a startup called GILIFT.

Initially we have decided that we take a start with 20 busses with different routes and areas. We
promote reliable and live tracking features that’s help you to track your ride at all times. Your
security is our responsibility. We provide save ride. Best thing about us we set affordable tickets
price.

PROBLEMS

1 According to a report released by Karachi's Urban Resource Center late last year, 55 percent of
the women who commute by public buses said that they felt insecuress and faced sexual
harassment in Karachi, with some districts in the east rated as the most unsafe for female
commuters.

2 Although transportation carrier (PINK TAX ) for lady passengers are available but they are
costly hence a cheaper facility needs to be introduced which will not only reduce travelling
expensive but also provide them safety

3 As far as security/safety is concerned Travelling in buss with group of people is better than
travelling alone in Taxi.

Industry Analysis
Name of Industry: Transportation Service
Phase of Industry: Depression
Contribution: 1,643,625 (2018-2019)
Recent Development:
“In the West, they talk more about mobility than transport. They talk more of non-motorised
transport where paths and walkways matter,” said urban planner Farhan Anwar at the workshop
on “Engaging Government Officials and Elected Representatives on Promoting Accessible
Streets in Karachi” organized by Shehri-Citizens for a Better Environment with the support of
Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung fur die Freiheit and in collaboration with NOWPDP at a local hotel.

Mr Anwar’s presentation titled ‘Accessible Streets in Karachi ---- a Vision and Roadmap for
Inclusive Development’ explained their project which they started work on it in August last year.
“We are trying to understand Karachi’s transport challenges, causes and implications before we
go into solution,” he said. “For this we have carried out discussions, held dialogues and
consultancies with many stakeholders such as people from academy, civil society, media and the
roles they can pay in making streets more accessible for all including the most vulnerable people
such as those with special needs,” he said. “Now we are inviting district municipal corporations
(DMCs) and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC)
too to see their interest in making this happen.”

OPERATIONAL PLAN:
In our business plan, the operations plan section describes the physical necessities of our
business operation, such as your physical location, facilities, and equipment. Depending on what
kind of business you'll be operating.

Operation Strategy:
In regard to operations, Gilift strategy is designed around providing value to customers by
offering comfortable and convenient transportation. Convenience is our main goal; therefore, we
strive to make every aspect of Gilift convenient for the customer. The procedure for delivering
our service begins with the sign-up process, which is a simple and user-friendly application.
The customer will be able to reserve their ride online in a matter of seconds and in the
convenience of their own home. A key factor in our operations that adds value to our customers
is the pick-up locations and departure times. Gilift will have following travel friendly routes in
Karahi.
 Malir Cantt > M.T Khan Road.
 North Nazimabad > Clifton.
 Malir Cantt >Clifton.
 4k Bus Stop > Clifton.
 FB Area > M.T Khan Road
 North Karachi > M.T Khan Road

These locations are ideal for our consumers for several reasons. Gilift pick-up times as follows:
 8:00 - 8:30 am.
 1.30 - 2:00 pm.
 5:00 – 5:30 pm.

Gilift will drop-off passengers right at the nearest departure point.

Scope of Operations:
Initially, Gilift will lease buses and store them in a rented warehouse. After the first year, we will
begin purchasing some of the new buses. Buses will be wrapped in sponsor logos or another low-
bidding graphic design related to females. The buses will undergo regularly scheduled
maintenance that will be outsourced to proper bus maintenance technicians. Buses will be
operated and maintained otherwise by Gilift staff. The staff will be key to promoting our image
as a “core” company. Sales will be conducted solely on our app which will be built and
maintained in-house. To purchase tickets on the app, the user will be given a calendar of dates in
which Gilift will operate. The user will pick a date to view where each bus is running and how
full each of the buses are. The user can then pay for a ticket for one of the selected lady
conductor. Fares are based on fixed route prices, ranging from Rs. 100 to Rs. 200. If maximum
capacity has been reached for that particular bus, there will be a notification that the bus is sold
out.
