Solve the following problems. Show your solution at the space provided.

1. A pyramid of altitude 18 m. and a lateral area of 200 sq. m. is divided into three parts by two
planes passed parallel to the base. If these planes are distant 6 m. and 12 m. respectively from the
vertex, find the ratio of the lateral area of the smaller part to the largest part.

2. A regular triangular pyramid has an altitude of 9 m. and a volume of 187.06

m3. What is the base edge in meters?

Altitude(height(h))=9 m, volume =187.06 cu. M

We know that volume = Bh, where B = x 2 sin ϴ

3. A liquid vessel which is initially empty is in the form of an inverted regular hexagonal
pyramid of altitude 25 ft. and the base edge of 10 ft. How much will the surface rise when 6,779
liters of water is added?

4. A right pyramid has a square base and a lateral area of 144 sq. in. If the slant height is twice
the length of the base edge, find the volume of the pyramid.

Solve the following problems. Show your solution at the space provided.
1. The altitude of the frustum of a regular pyramid is 5 m., the volume is 140 cu.m. and the upper
base is 3 m. by 4 m. What are the dimensions of the lower base, in meters?
2. The frustum of a regular triangular pyramid has equilateral triangles for its bases. The lower
and the upper edges are 9 m. and 3 m., respectively. If the volume is 118.2 cu.m., how far apart
are the bases?

3. A frustum of a regular hexagonal pyramid has an upper edge of 16 ft. and a lower base edge of
28 ft. If the lateral area of the frustum is 1,716 sq.ft., find the altitude of the frustum.

4. The volume of the frustum of a regular triangular pyramid is 135 cu.m. The lower base is an
equilateral triangle with an edge of 9 m. The upper base is 8 m. above the lower base. What is
the upper base, in meters?
