INSTRUCTIONS: Provide (10) storage equipment’s and (10) handling equipment’s with
their corresponding uses.

Storage Equipment’s:

1. Storage Carousel – A carousel storage system is a dynamic storage solution that

employs vertically rotating shelves to transport stored objects to the system operator.
The "goods to man" concept governs the operation of a carousel storage system.
Employees no longer have to waste time walking back and forth across the warehouse
looking for stored things. Special software controls and manages the carousel storage
mechanism, allowing stored goods to be promptly located and retrieved.
2. Storage Mezzanine Floor - The most typical sort of mezzanine floor is a storage
mezzanine floor, which is properly planned, constructed, and positioned to serve a
specific and well-defined purpose. It is built between the ceiling and the ground level to
give additional storage space for objects like as inventory, supplies, hardware, papers,
equipment, or furniture.
3. Bins and Totes - Totes and bins are containers for storing and transporting
components and supplies. Totes are portable, box-style industrial storage products that
may be collapsed when not in use to save space. Bins feature a semi-opened end,
allowing staff to retrieve contents without having to lift the container from its location on
a rack or shelf. This built-in aperture for exposing and accessing the contents of a
container is what distinguishes a bin from a tote. Some totes, on the other hand, have
adjustable or detachable tops for easier access.
4. Storage Cabinets - Storage cabinets are particularly important for workplaces
because they allow users to properly store and manage their papers and documents
without causing clutter. There are several types of storage cabinets that are intended to
satisfy the storage needs of the user. These cabinets assist you in keeping paperwork
organized while maximizing storage space. Storage cabinets may be an ideal option for
both business and home customers. They are available in a range of sizes and may be
put in any corner of your space.
5. Static Shelving - Static shelves are storage systems that are intended to remain
stationary. For the most part, they are designed to contain relatively modest goods. It's
typically used for holding goods that has to be replenished on a regular basis. Static
shelving is typically utilized with merchandise that must be manually chosen, arranged,
and/or sorted because it is incompatible with forklifts. Invest in a wide-span shelf system
for your larger inventory, which can handle greater weight and be employed in higher-
elevation arrangements.
6. Automated Storage and Retrieval System - Automated storage and retrieval
systems, also known as ASRS or AS/RS, are a type of computer-controlled system that
places and retrieves loads from predetermined storage locations in a facility with
precision, accuracy, and speed. It is a set of equipment and controls that handle, store,
and retrieve items as needed with precision, accuracy, and speed while operating at a
predetermined level of automation. It improves throughput, accuracy, and ergonomics
by bringing objects to the operator at a suitable height, minimizing time spent walking,
seeking, lifting, bending, and twisting, and so on.
7. Stacking frame - A stack frame, also known as an activation frame or activation
record, is a memory management mechanism used in several programming languages
to create and remove temporary variables. In other words, it is the collection of all
information on the stack related to a subprogram call. Stack frames exist exclusively
during the execution phase. Stack frames aid programming languages in their provision
of recursive functionality for subroutines.
8. Block Stacking - This storage method involves stacking unit loads (pallets, cartons,
or items) one on top of the other on the warehouse floor without the use of racks.
Depending on the sort of product handled, the items may or may not be palletized. The
only requirement is that they be strong enough to support the weight of the remaining
items. Otherwise, if the product is fragile, the structure may fail. Block stacking is a
storage strategy that involves stacking products directly on the floor. When used
correctly, this storage approach can provide various logistical benefits.
9. Drive-through rack - A Drive-in/Drive-Thru Pallet Racking system is a storage
solution in which pallets or skids are put on steel rails with the assistance of forklift
trucks, which are guided by floor rails and drive into the system to store and retrieve the
pallets. A Drive-thru System features two entry sides, allowing vehicles to enter from
either side to store or receive pallets. It can work in either FILO or FIFO mode. Ideally
suited for batch manufacturing, cold storage applications, non-perishable items, and as
a transportation buffer.
10. Selective Pallet Rack - The most prevalent pallet racking technology is selective
pallet racking. These systems are referred regarded as "selective" because they
allow customers to choose any pallet load from the pallet racking system without
moving any other pallets. In terms of cost per pallet location, selective pallet racking
systems are the most affordable option

Handling Equipment’s:

1. Bulk Handling Material Equipment - Material handling equipment that transports,

stores, and regulates large commodities is referred to as bulk handling material
handling equipment. Bulk handling material equipment is often designed to transfer and
store materials in a loose state. These machines are used to handle food, liquids,
metals, and minerals.
2. Manual Pallet Trolley - Hand pallet trolleys are wheeled and have a solid, powerful
fork in front. They are ergonomically intended to lift pallets from beneath, move, and
lower them as needed using a pumping motion of the handle. Pallet trucks of this type
are used to transport pallets over small distances within a warehouse. It is especially
prevalent in retail and personal storage activities. They are mostly used for lifting,
lowering, and directing pallets from one location to another.
3. Battery-Powered Pallet Trolley - A powered pallet truck, sometimes known as an
electric pallet truck, is a motorized equipment for lifting and transporting pallets. It is
commonly used in warehouses to transport things inside the limits of the facility. Some
motorized pallet trucks, depending on the design, feature a platform that allows the user
to stand while moving pallets. A battery-powered pallet trolley, on the other hand,
moves, lifts, and lowers pallets using electric power from batteries fitted on the trolley.
Battery-powered trolleys can normally handle up to 3000 kilos of weight.
4. Forklift - A forklift is a type of truck that is classified as a motorized industrial truck.
They are used to lift and carry various things over short distances; also, it is a tiny
vehicle with two power-operated prongs at the front that can be slid beneath large loads
and then elevated for moving and stacking materials in warehouses, shipping terminals,
and so on. It can hold up to 50000 kg and is used to raise, move, and lower goods
within a warehouse or over short distances. Heavy duty models are used to move
freight and containers.
5. Bulk containers - Bulk containers refers to the storing of huge numbers of
equipment and supplies, generally in a warehouse environment. Goods are frequently
stored in their original containers, with no packing. Bulk storage can apply to liquid items
like petroleum or industrial supplies like building materials. It can also be used to refer to
food storage. Bulk storage, in general, necessitates fewer physical storage bins and
provides for quick access to containers, with storage organized in blocks and rows.
6. Conveyor - A conveyor is a type of mechanical handling equipment that is commonly
used to carry things from one point to another. Conveyors are extremely handy for
transporting large or bulky items. Objects that are too large or bulky for people to handle
by hand can be moved using the conveyor. When delivering products from one area to
another, conveyors save time.
7. Side loader forklift - A side loader forklift, often known as a side loader, is a type of
materials handling equipment that is built to handle lengthy loads. The operator's cab is
located at the front, on the left side. The bed or platform is the region to the right of the
cab. This has a center area within it called the well, which is where the forks are
located. A side loader is a forklift truck with a mast positioned on the side and a loading
platform. Long items may therefore be picked up without having to switch off the
machine. Aside from load capacity and lifting height, the most significant component in
specifying a vehicle that is effectively fitted to the needs is the tires.
8. Hand trucks - A two-wheeled cart used for transporting products that consists of a
vertical structure with handles at the top and a metal blade at the bottom that is placed
beneath a cargo, with the entire assembly slanted backward until balanced for simple
pushing or pulling.
9. Walkie Stacker - Walkie Stackers can be electrically or manually operated. They are
most typically used for moving and lifting pallets in locations where a forklift is not
required, such as storerooms, small warehouses, and specialized warehousing areas,
or as a backup for more expensive forklifts. These machines are ideal for transporting
small capacity objects throughout a warehouse or other location for less than five hours
each day. Because of their tiny wheels, they are better suited to interior usage and
should only be used on level concrete surfaces, although they may be purchased from
the factory with specialized specifications such as bigger wheels.
10. Order Picker Forklift - An order picker is intended to transport the forklift operator
to the rack with or without a load. Unlike other lift trucks, the order picker operator
stands on a platform and moves up with the mast. This piece of equipment can reach
heights ranging from 9 to 35 feet. Typically, the forks carry a load that is being added to
rather than removed. They're intended for situations where an operator must be at the
same level as the inventory in order to choose a certain order. An order picker forklift
only picks cases or single products from racks in a warehouse.
