Chapter 1

Introduction

Visual arts are forms of art that focus on creating pieces of work that mainly make use of the visual

environment, while trying to convey messages of emotion, ideas or information. This discipline relates to

similar areas such as art and art history, graphic design and cultural studies. The visual arts are art forms

that create works that are primarily visual in nature, such as ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture,

printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, film making and architecture.

The art, or the expressions of the human experiences in the Philippines mirror a general public with

assorted social impacts and conventions. The Visual Arts in the Philippines Art had a vital function in pre-

colonial society. The early native artists showcased their talent and skills in making of pots, bamboo

containers, shell and bead jewelry.

Chapter 2

Proposal

With the uprising of mental health issues in the country, one of the most helpful methods of promoting

mental health awareness is through visual artistry. I would like to propose making paintings in promoting

mental health awareness. Especially that at our age, mental issues are rampant, by letting students indulge in art,

they can try to express themselves in showcasing their emotions in their paintings. The arts valuable role in

mental health is being recognised. It can help to boost confidence and make us feel more engaged and resilient.

Besides these benefits, art engagement also alleviates anxiety, depression and stress. My art proposal will focus
on the concept of mental health, expressing the emotions within, to let it be free from the chains of the mind. I

believe that my art form will be a huge help to those suffering from such issues. It is no just reflecting what I

want to convey to my viewers but also manifesting the reality that we are in and we need to be aware of it and

that help is here.

Chapter 3

Summary

In conclusion mental health is something that we need to be wary of. So I believe that by making this

proposal effective, it will not just be an art form of a student, but an art form that will help convey a

message to those in need. I want to pursue this, as a student of a prestigious university who upholds the

Ignatian Values. Mental health and Contemporary arts can collaborate for the betterment of humankind.
