THE MASK OF THE RED DEATH.

MAIN CHARACTERS:

 The Prospero prince: Owner and lord of a great kingdom. He was a young man, strong,
shrewd, indolent and wicked. Known for his eccentric tastes, waste of money and power.

SECUNDARY CHARACTERS:

 The Red Death. It is a deadly plague that devastates half the people of the kingdom of Prince
Prospero. Although at the end of the story he appears as a masked specter, resembling a corpse.
 One thousand friends of the Prince: They were ladies and gentlemen of the nobility, who
were chosen by the prince, to isolate themselves in the rooms next to him.

COMMENT

Reading the mask of the red death, is a story by Edgar Allan Poe in which he describes a disease
called the red death, half of the population had witnessed this disease, including several relatives of
the prosperous Prince, the The prosperous prince was a leading man of the people. But one day, the
prosperous prince decides to gather a thousand people to take refuge from the disease of the red
death, he decides to take them to a part of the kingdom where he can protect himself from the
disease since it was covered by a great wall. Six months after protecting himself, the prosperous
prince decides to have a masquerade party with the thousand people who were with him, in seven
rooms with different colors: blue, purple, green, orange, white, red and black. When the clock
strikes midnight, people looked at a person who was in the castle, wearing dark and bloodstained
clothing and wearing a mask that looked like a corpse. The people decided to take off his mask and
clothes, they realized that there was nothing, they realized that it was the red death and it ended with
the life of the prosperous prince all the people who were at the masquerade party.

In conclusion, I found the story very interesting because it makes us understand that death is
something that we cannot avoid, that it does not matter if we hide, or the amount of money we have,
it will always surprise us no matter what at that moment. let us be happy, as in the case of the prince
and his thousand companions who were celebrating the festival of masks.
