Activity 2
1. True
2. Yes, an object can have zero displacement even when it has moved through a distance. This happens
when the final position of the object coincides with its initial position. For example, circular motion.
Situation: in going from home to school and coming back home (round trip), some distance is
travelled, but displacement is zero
3. Path 1 and path 3 would my distance traveled be different from my displacement.
4. a. I traveled 6 miles.
b. My displacement for the entire trip is 0.
Activity 3
1. Yes, because acceleration is the change of velocity. If there is no velocity, then there is no change in
velocity.
2. No, as the car rounds the curve the direction of its velocity changes. Since there is a change in the
velocity, it must have a non-zero acceleration.
3. The turtle since the car has zero acceleration but the turtle has. As long as the racing car travels with
constant velocity (even as large a velocity as 100 MPH), its acceleration is zero. If the turtle starts to
move at all, its velocity will change from zero to something else, and thus it does have an acceleration.
Greater than zero.
4. Yes the velocity is constant during the instant of t = 0 s to t =
2s.
T he greatest acceleration is from 2-4 seconds.

5. Yes, the car is going backward in the third segment of its motion.
The acceleration is greatest at A since it is where the slope is the greatest.
