019-346 Knock Sensor

Remove

NOTE: Knock sensors are located on

each of the cylinder heads. They are
monitored by the left or right CM558.
The following procedures are
applicable to all the knock sensors.

Disconnect the harness from the sensor.

Remove the sensor from the engine.

Install

NOTE: The sensor should not be

installed with washers.

Install the sensor to the correct position

on the cylinder head.

Torque Value: 20 n.m [177 in-lb]

Connect the harness to the sensor. An

audible click should be heard when the
connection is made.

Following the initial installation or

replacement, the knock sensor may
require calibration. This is dependent
upon the version of CM558 software
installed. Generator sets using CM558
software versions prior to 4.3.00 must
have the knock sensors calibrated.

Use INSITE™ electronic service tool to

perform the knock sensor calibration.
Follow the Knock Sensor Calibration
instructions shown in the Knock Sensor
Calibration Wizard within the ECM
Diagnostic Tests option.
