STARTER setup is possible with native Windows XP versions with far east languages only if the Windows
XP or Windows 7 software is an MUI version.

The execution in another SW configuration than those shown above has not been tested.
To open the function block diagrams in the online help, the Acrobat Reader V5.0 or higher is required.
If STARTER is used together with other STEP 7 components, the requirements of the respective
components apply.

1.3 Changes compared to previous versions

If no STEP 7 installation exists on the computer, a STEP7 V5.5 SP1 OEM variant together with STARTER
is automatically installed.

Previous Drive ES Basic STARTER projects are converted when opened.

1.4 STARTER and other engineering software
It is currently not possible to operate STARTER, SIMOTION SCOUT, SIMATIC S7-Technology, SIMATIC
NCM PC and STEP 7 Micro/WIN 32 (PC edition) simultaneously on a PG/PC.
If STEP 7 software is already installed, STARTER V4.4 HF3 requires at least STEP 7 V5.3 SP1 HF1.
For SINUMERIK NCu7x0 units, the minimum version requirement for STEP 7 is V5.3 SP2.
Newer versions of SINUMERIK NCUs can require newer STEP7 versions.

If STARTER V4.4 HF3 is used in conjunction with PROFINET (CBE20 or CU2xx PN / CU3xx PN), Version
5.4 is the minimum STEP 7 requirement.

STEP 7 Version V5.5 is the minimum requirement under the MS Windows 7 operating system.

SINAMICS DCC:
If SIMATIC CFC software is already installed, SIMATIC CFC V7.0 SP1 HF3 is the minimum requirement
for the use of STARTER V4.4 HF3 and DCC editor V2.3 (SINAMICS DCC). At least SIMATIC CFC V7.1
SP2 HF2 should be installed so that the full functional scope of the DCC editor V2.3 can be used.

To use the DCC editor on a 64-bit operating system, a minimum of SIMATIC CFC V8.0 must be installed.
This version (v8.0 SP4 HF2) of SIMATIC CFC currently forms part of STARTER V4.4 HF3 (DVD, SW
download) and can be selected from the STARTER setup.

The engineering license "CFC for SINAMICS 8.0" for one PC (floating license) is required for the
configuration of SINAMICS DCC with the DCC editor 2.3 with CFC V8.0 or CFC V8.0 SP4.
CFC V8.0 also works for SINAMICS with the "CFC for SINAMICS 7.1" license.

Note for dynamic linking of S7-DOS Lib:

If STARTER is installed in a STEP 7 / PCS7 environment that contains an "older" S7-DOS as that
required by STARTER, not all online functions (e.g. USB, PROFINET) may be able to be used in this
installation environment

A new STARTER version V4.4 HF3 can overwrite any existing Drive ES basic installation ≥ version V5.4.

1.5 Special Characteristics of the MS Windows 7 Operating

System
Note that MS Windows 7 offers an extended protection concept.
This means that access to protected areas of the file system, such as the directories "Programs" and
"Windows", are virtualized. Your data will be forwarded by the operating system in such a case to user-
specific areas.
Note that the software under MS Windows 7 is no longer available at
"Start menu> SIMATIC", but under
"Start menu > Programs > Siemens Automation > SIMATIC" and
"Start menu > Programs > STARTER”
This change is caused by the current architecture of MS Windows 7. Any information listed in the
documentation and online help has to be interpreted accordingly.
Setting the access rights in the operating system
Important changes have been made to the MS Windows 7 safety concept in STEP 7 V5.5 SP1 and
STARTER V4.4 HF3. This concept is used in case of a new installation (STEP 7 / STARTER has never
been installed on this computer). In this case, most settings, such as the STEP 7 language and
mnemonic method are user-defined. This means users can make settings using a PC and their login
information. An exception is the setting of the configuration language for the PG/PC interface.
A user group ”Siemens TIA Engineer” will be created under MS Windows 7. The installer will automatically
be added to this user group. Users from this user group have additional rights, such as configuration of
the PG/PC interface and installation of the hardware support packages as well as for global setting of the
STEP 7 language and mnemonic for all users of the “Siemens TIA Engineer” group. This language setting
does also apply for the configuration of the PG/PC interface.
For manual IP configuration of the PGs (for PROFINET without DHCP), the user must also be added to
the preinstalled user group “Network configuration operators".
The administrator has to assign these user rights.

User account control

The operation of STEP 7 V5.5 SP1 / STARTER V4.4 HF3 under MS Windows 7 is possible with enabled
(3 Steps) as well as disabled (do not announce at all) user account control (UAC).
Operation without UAC is only possible with increased access rights (e.g. Administrator).
If the user account control is activated, it may not be deactivated temporarily.
Following the conversion of the user account control (e.g. by UAC conversion of a program installed by
the system administrator), some of the settings made by the user may no longer be present. The position
and size of the application windows may, for example, be reset to older (default) values. Some of the
projects processed by the user may no longer be visible. You will have to enter them once again in the
project management of STEP 7 (SIMATIC Manager > Open Project > Find).
Set up domain global user group "Siemens TIA Engineer"
For operation in a domain, you can create a domain global user group that will be mapped to the local
user groups "Siemens TIA Engineer" and "Network configuration operators".
The following prerequisites will have to be met:
 The domain administrator has created a domain global user group.
 The domain administrator has added users to the domain global user group whose login will be
used for access to STEP 7 / STARTER.

Editing projects
You need at least "Siemens TIA-Engineer" rights to reconfigure the PG/PC interface.
These rights are also required for the following example:
A project can include an implicit configuration of the PG/PC interface (PG/PC).
If the PG/PC interface in such a project was implicitly reconfigured by a user with "Siemens TIA-Engineer"
rights, then operators with user rights will not be able to undo this configuration. This means you will not
be able to work online again until an operator with Siemens TIA-Engineer" rights has reconfigured the
PG/PC interface. Otherwise operators will see the following alarm: "Insufficient user rights for operation of
STEP 7".
Administrator rights should be available for the full use of STARTER under Windows.

Note
Do not use the hibernate / standby function under MS Windows 7.
2 Installing and removing the software
2.1 Installing
The installation of STARTER V4.4 HF3 can only be performed with administrator rights on the PG/PC.
When rebooting, the login must be performed with the same login name as at the start of the installation.
The virus scanner must also be deactivated during the installation.

Use of the Google Desktop Search can result in installation problems with STARTER.
It is therefore recommended that you do not install the Google Desktop Search and STARTER on the
same partition.

Before starting the setup, please close all applications (e.g. MS Word, etc.) and the "Control Panel"
window because, after installation of STARTER, MS Windows is restarted in order to activate all system
variables.

The setup is started with the following call from the DVD drive:
DVD drive: \CD_1\Setup.exe
The installation program guides you through the whole installation procedure step-by-step.
The installation runs automatically through the following phases:
 The setup checks for previously installed STARTER versions
 If an older STARTER version is already installed it will automatically be removed when installing V4.3.
SP3.

Before the installed software can be used, MS Windows must be restarted. If you do not restart MS
Windows, the newly installed software will only have limited functionality and there may be data loss. If
you stop the installation process, MS Windows must also be restarted.

From version V4.3.1 and later, it is possible to install STARTER without online help, e.g. to save hard disk
space.
The online help can be installed later at any time by running the setup again.

2.2 Operating
It is recommended that STARTER be run with Administrator rights.
However, restricted operation of STARTER is possible with User rights.
(e.g. no adding of additional PG/PC interfaces, Trace cannot be run).

2.3 Additional information for installation when using user profiles

When using user profiles which are to be stored on a central server, it must be ensured that all user
computer drives are configured in the same way. E.g. the local drive on one computer must not have the
same designation as the CD-ROM drive on another.
If this is not the case the setup may be interrupted with the general error code 1603 and cannot be
continued. In this case an error log will be generated “InstallCheckRequiremenstLog.txt”. If this is the
case, please call our hotline (telephone +49 (0)180 5050 222; Web address:
www.siemens.com/automation/service&support).
2.4 Note for installation procedure
The computer may have to be restarted when performing the setup of STARTER. The setup automatically
continues the installation. Please do not remove the CD or other data media from which you have started
the startup.
If you have started the installation from a network drive, the setup may abort with an error message after
the restart. Please check whether the network drive was correctly connected at the restart. If not,
reconnect the network drive and restart the setup. It continues with the installation.

If after a restart during the STARTER installation the following message appears: "The following program
could not be installed: <installationpath>\setup.exe", then please copy the entire setup to a local drive and
restart the setup.
Important Information
3 Important notes / function restrictions
Note the general conditions and function restrictions for STARTER.
These are described in the file STARTER_V44_HF3_Restrictions.pdf.

This file can be found on the DVD in the following directory:

\...\01_Readme\STARTER_SINAMICS_Restrictions\

With STARTER V4.4 HF3 (V4.4.0.3), the following restrictions compared to STARTER Version V4.4
(V4.4.0.0) have been removed:

 Removed restriction in conjunction with upgrading SINAMICS drives (CU320-2 with PROFINET)
from firmware V4.4 to a current firmware version in conjunction with the use of PROFIsafe
telegrams:
after upgrading the firmware of the CU, the warning “A01796 (F, N) SI  (CU): Waiting for
communication (3)” is displayed on some drives, and PROFIsafe communication does not take
place. (TFS 334721)

 The device name of Ethernet changes when the function “Save and compile” is activated in the
Hardware Configuration of STEP 7 on SINAMICS drives with CU320-2 with PROFINET.
The cause is the change to the SINAMICS device name in the STARTER project by operating the
STARTER functions. (TFS 329460)

 SINAMICS G120 with PROFINET and STEP7 HW-Config:

The following error behavior has been corrected:
Drive commissioning in online mode; then the device data is loaded to the project. The device name
is changed in the offline project, thus the existing device name is modified and overwritten in the
STEP7 project. After once again downloading the HW-Configuration, the project no longer runs.
(TFS 324295)

 In the case of a PC with a time zone setting in Windows with a negative sign (e.g., UMC/GMT -01:00
or -02:00 or -03:00, etc.), saved trace files (*.trc) cannot be opened with STARTER. (TFS 335569)

3.1 General
 German, English, French, Spanish and Italian language settings are possible with STARTER V4.4
HF3.
 Complete operator control of the STARTER is only possible with a mouse.
 Note on executing the functions "Upload" and "Import":
Please only execute these functions with closed expert list and screen forms.
 If for some reason STARTER should crash during operation, please exit all S7* and U7*
processes in the task manager before restarting.
 The STARTER application must be exited before logging off as user or shutting down the
operating system. The project must be closed before exiting.
 The USB PC adapter with the order number "6ES7972-0CB20-0XA0" or "6GK1571-0BA00-0AA0“
is not supported.
 Timeout errors can occur for USS connections (RS232) with baud rates < 9600 baud.
The download is aborted with an error message in this case.

3.2 Safety

As of STARTER V4.4 HF3, scripts and templates are provided for the creation of Safety acceptance
reports.

3.3 Operating instructions

The connection of the drive to the commissioning software is carried out via a point-to-point connection
(MICROMASTER and SINAMICS G110/G120:USS (RS232) or via a USS network (RS485)) or via USB
or via PROFIBUS or via PROFINET.

Important
A set know-how protection CANNOT be deactivated offline in version V4.4 HF3.
If a parameterization with set know-how protection is uploaded online from a drive
unit to STARTER, the know-how protection is also taken into the offline project for
this drive unit, i.e. the know-how protection remains set.
3.4 Procedure if problems occur when establishing a connection
The following steps should be executed in succession under the menu “Options -> Set PG/PC
interface”:

Procedure for USS:

1. Perform baud rate scan via: Properties -> Interface -> Read
After completion of the scan, the baud rate found is displayed in the right-hand field.

2. This baud rate is set in the PG/PC: Properties -> Interface -> Baud Rate
Baud rates < 38,400 bit/s can result in functional restrictions.

3. Perform diagnostics function (a new window appears, "Automatic slave recognition"); "Test slaves"
should be activated here. The node addresses found are displayed (this function checks whether the
connection generally functions).

4. Now go to the “Accessible nodes” item in the project and activate this. STARTER will now identify the
connected converter types with the appropriate addresses.

5. The drive units with node address and drive unit type (FW version) are displayed in the “Accessible
Nodes” window. The drive units can be selected here and taken into the project.

Procedure for PROFIBUS:

1. Perform diagnostics function. The node addresses found are displayed (this function checks whether
the connection generally functions).

2. Now go to the “Accessible nodes” item in the project and activate this. STARTER will now identify the
connected converter types with the appropriate addresses.

3. The drive units with node address and drive unit type (FW version) are displayed in the “Accessible
Nodes” window. The drive units can be selected here and taken into the project.
Procedure for PROFINET:

1. Select "TCP/IP" with the correct Ethernet card as interface setting at “Options  Set PG/PC interface".

2. Assign subnet mask and IP address for the used Ethernet card.

3. Then go to "Accessible nodes" in the "Project" menu and confirm these. STARTER now performs an
identification of the connected converter types with the corresponding IP addresses.

4. The drive units with node address and drive unit type (FW version) are displayed in the "Accessible
Nodes" window.
The desired drive units can be selected here and taken into the project.
If a drive unit does not have a valid IP address, this must be assigned first.
To do this, select the drive unit without an IP address (maybe not valid address) in the "Accessible
Nodes" window and right-click. "Edit Ethernet node" in the context menu
opens a dialog box in which an IP address and a name can be assigned.
This procedure is also referred to as the "initial designation" of the node.

For detailed information in STARTER, select the menu "Help -> Getting Started" and navigate to the
"Commission drives -> G120, G120D, ET200, ET200pro -> Communication via PROFINET -> PROFINET
- Search for device ONLINE and insert in project" entry in the table of contents and follow the procedure
described there.

Note:
The menu item Target system -> Target device selection can be used to set an alternative access of
the STARTER for each specific drive unit.
For each of the two offered access points "S7ONLINE" and "DEVICE", different communication paths can
be specified in “Set PG/PC interface”.

 S7ONLINE: Select the entry "S7ONLINE (STEP 7)" from the combo box for the
assignment and setting of the desired communication module.
 DEVICE: To assign and set the desired communication module, select
"DEVICE (STARTER, SCOUT)” from the combo box.
The USB interface is set as the default option.

You then have two mutually independent communication paths that can be used simultaneously from your
PG/PC to the drive units.
4 STARTER general
4.1 ONLINE settings bus type USS (MICROMASTER 4, SINAMICS G110)
Select bus type USS in the STARTER menu “Options ->Set PG/PC interface”. Changes will take effect
on completing this dialog. It is recommended that the baud rate be set as high as possible in order to
achieve a high communication performance.
For USS bus operation, a RS232 to RS485 converter is required. It is recommended that this converter
should have electrical isolation and be capable of operating at a minimum of 9600 Baud.
If your PG/PC only has USB interfaces instead of the RS232 interface, you can use standard USB <->
RS232 adapters. Please make sure that you use up-to-date drivers from the respective manufacturers,
especially for 64-Bit-systems.

Ensure that the automatic operation is selected in the “Set PG/PC interface” setting for PC COM port in
the "RS485" tab. Otherwise, online operation with a USB adapter on the RS232 is not possible.

4.2 ONLINE settings bus type PROFIBUS

Select bus type PROFIBUS in the STARTER menu “Options->Set PG/PC interface”. Changes will take
effect on completing this dialog.
An appropriate PROFIBUS communication card for the PC (e.g. CP5512, CP5611 or CP5711) is required
for PROFIBUS bus operation.

4.3 General conditions and function restrictions

Note on online changes:
Please explicitly save the changed parameter values in the drive with Copy RAM to ROM and back up
with an upload to the PC.

4.4 Note to operating the control panel and the effect on the drive unit with
respect to the "Stop drive" function

Deactivate checkbox ON OFF1

Space bar: OFF3
OFF2

With assumed control priority, the space bar is used by STARTER. Actuation of the space bar with active
control panel switches the drive off with OFF3.
If for an active control panel and turning motor, the selection in STARTER gets lost (for example, when
the screensaver switches on or when a switch is made to a different program), OFF 3 will be performed
for safety reasons, because, in this case, the drive can no longer be operated from the control panel and,
in an emergency, the drive cannot be switched off sufficiently fast.

4.4.1 Assume control priority

Safety notes:
The function is released exclusively for commissioning, diagnostic and service purposes. The function
should generally only be used by authorized technicians. The safety shutdowns from the higher-level
control are ineffective.

The function "Emergency stop with the space bar" is not guaranteed in all operating modes.
Therefore, there must be an EMERGENCY STOP circuit in the hardware. The appropriate
measures must be taken by the user.

Please make sure that the drive is in the "OFF" mode and that no ON/OFF1 command from control word
STW1 or from another signal (e.g. BICO interconnection) is pending.

After transferring the control priority to the PC, the BICO interconnections on Bit 1 to Bit 6 of the control
word are not effective.

Tip:
To shorten the response time, it is recommended that the baud rate be increased and that all windows
that are not required be closed.

4.4.2 Return control priority

Make sure that no ON command from the CPU (automation) is pending.
Before removing the control priority, the PC removes all enables, BUT the setpoints and commands
subsequently come from the parameterized source again. If a setpoint is pending, the drive reacts
immediately!! This can be dangerous!!

4.5 STARTER operation on the PROFIBUS

STARTER can be operated directly on the PROFIBUS line. When communicating via various networks
(routing), an online connection can only be established to a certain number of converters (depending on
how many connections are supported by the PLC control CPU (router)).
Selection options if an online connection is desired:
- Menu function Target system -> Select target devices
- Select drive unit in the project navigator, right-click and select "Connect target device"
4.6 STARTER operation via PPI serial interface
Please note: Use only possible with S110/S120 devices.
A serial interface (COM) must be available on the PC from which the connection is to be established.

Settings
1. Select the Serial cable (PPI) interface in STARTER via Options  Set PG/PC interface. If this is not
available in the drop-down list, you first have to add it using Select and Install.

2. Make the following settings. Important: the station address may not be set to 3. The highest node
address must be set to 15.

NOTE
In the event of connection problems, set a higher transfer rate.
3. The address set at the PROFIBUS address switch is not relevant for the PPI connection.

4. Set bus address "3" in the STARTER project when creating the drive unit.

5. The connecting cable from the CU3xx to the PC must be connected to X140 for the CU320/CU320-2
and to X22 for the CU305/CU310/CU301-2. A null modem cable must be connected there.
Null modem cable:
Sub-D Sub-D
Socket Socket
9-pin 9- pin

Pin 2 --- Pin 3

Pin 3 --- Pin 2
Pin 5 --- Pin 5

The null modem cable used must comply with the defined Standard RS232. A suitable Siemens cable
can be ordered under MLFB 6ES7 901-1BF00-0XA0.

6. This interface may not be used as a diagnostics interface. Check whether p9930[1] = 0 and p2039 = 0.
(this can only be checked by service personnel with access level 4).
7. To avoid a loss of connection, the monitoring time should be set to a minimum of 2500ms. Please
observe the relevant safety information when doing so.
4.7 STARTER operation via USB interface
The behavior of the USB interface for the G120/G120P has changed fundamentally from V4.3 to V4.4
ff..
Only as of FW V4.4 is the USB interface used as real and full USB interface.
For setting, follow the instructions in Subsection 4.7.1.

With FW versions <= V4.3.x, the USB interface on the drive CUs was not used in its native functionality,
but only as a further transmission variant for the USS protocol.
That meant that all USS parameters still had to be set correctly and the setting "PC COM Port (USS)" had
to be set in STARTER as interface parameterization.
Only in this case follow for the instructions in Subsection 4.7.2 for setting.

4.7.1 Use of the USB interface with G120/G120P and FW as of V4.4

1. In STARTER, select "S7USB" as interface parameterization under Options  "Set PG/PC interface" /
Device (STARTER,SCOUT)

2. Further communication settings are not required.

As of FW V4.4, the G120 devices are now automatically identified via their name or serial number
when establishing a USB connection.

Note:
A USB connection is only possible under the access point "DEVICE" of the PG/PC interface. The access
point "S7ONLINE" currently does not support an "S7USB" connection.

4.7.2 Use of the USB interface with G120/G120P CU230P-2 and FW < V4.3.x

1. Prior to the first use of the USB interface, you have to install the USB driver on the PC. To do so,
please use the USB driver from the enclosed package of the G120/G120P CU230P-2.
2. Then determine the system-assigned COM port in the Windows Control Panel / Device Manager /
Ports. Check the COM port number assigned by the system which is shown between the brackets.
This must be less than 8. If this is not the case, you have to select a number between 0 and 7.
3. In STARTER, select the PC COM port (USS under “Options  Set PG/PC interface”, and set the COM
port number of the USB interface under properties.

4. Then set the baud rate as described for USS (the factory setting for G120/G120P CU230P-2 is 115.2
kbit/s)

5. For further information on how to use the USB interface, please refer to the documentation of the
G120/G120P CU230P-2.
5 Information on MICROMASTER 4th generation
5.1 Communication
USS via RS232:
with the aid of the
· PC-converter assembly kit 6SE6400-1PC00-0AA0 for MICROMASTER 420, 430, 440
· PC-converter assembly kit 6SE6400-0PL00-0AA0 for MICROMASTER 410
· Interface connection cable 6SE6401-1BL00-0AA0 for MICROMASTER 411.

USS via RS485:

Communication is performed using interface converters and the following connection terminals
· MICROMASTER 410: Terminals 9 + 10,
· MICROMASTER 420: Terminals 14 + 15
· MICROMASTER 440/430: Terminals 29 + 30.

To establish an online connection to the drive, the following general conditions should be checked:
 Set up the correct access port on the PG/PC (under “Set PG/PC interface”: S7ONLINE or Device
--> PC COM Port (USS))
 The baud rate on the MICROMASTER 4xx (P2010[0] for RS485) and the baud rate of the PG/PC
(under Set PG/PC interface) must be the same
 The address on the MICROMASTER 4xx (P2010[0] for RS485) and that of the STARTER (drive
unit properties) must be the same
 The RS232 interface of the PG/PC should not be occupied by another program.

PROFIBUS:
The PROFIBUS module (6SE640X-1PB00-0AA0) is used on the converter.

5.2 Important Notes and Recommendations:

Communication between STARTER and MICROMASTER 4xx

 Please ensure that the set addresses of the MICROMASTER drives on the USS bus are different!
If the drives have the same addresses, unintended operation of these drives is possible.
 The terminating resistors supplied with the converters are to be used as described.
 USS networking with PLC via RS485: When commissioning with STARTER, the parameter
P2014[0] (USS message frame downtime) is set to zero (message frame monitoring disabled).
Please check the setting of P2014[0] after commissioning with STARTER. P2012[0] = 4 and
P2013[0] = 127 (variable length) are set for the online connection of STARTER. This means that
the control priority of the PLC can be lost.
 The baud rate should be set to 57600, with MICROMASTER 440/430 to 115200. Using the
control panel with a baud rate of less equal 9600 is not recommended.
 It is possible that the device is not recognized during a baud rate test / diagnosis. In this case the
baud rate and the address must be entered manually.
Note: After a failed baud rate test, it is advisable to perform a "Power off/on" of the drive.

Control panel
 Controlling the drive via the control panel: To reduce the response time between the PC and the
drive, please close the technological dialog boxes (e.g. Terminals/Bus) and parameter list or
switch off the dialog box update. The response time is also influenced by the set baud rate and
the performance of the PC.
 Control priority at the PG/PC is not possible with a parameterized OFF function in P845 and
P849.
 The setpoint cannot be set via the drive control panel when the PID controller is active.

Download
 Note when working in offline mode with STARTER: If in offline mode the motor data is to be set
via the expert list, please also set P340 = 1 before downloading these settings.
 The P14 parameter determines the memory type (RAM/EEPROM) of the parameter values in the
converter written online by STARTER. P14 should have the value 0, in which case the parameter values
are stored in the RAM of the converter.
 USS bus operation with MICROMASTER 440 with Version 2.06: The drive can go offline after a
download via STARTER; power off/on of the drive is required before going online again.
 Download (loading from PC to the drive) and upload (loading from drive to PC) with
MICROMASTER 410 V1.02: The error message with regard to P1248 is irrelevant and can be ignored.

5.3 General conditions and functional restrictions of STARTER V4.4 HF3 for
MICROMASTER 4th Generation

Function restriction
 The "Trace / Function Generator" and "Measuring Function" buttons do not work with
MICROMASTER devices.
 The configuration of BICO interconnections should generally be carried out in online mode.
 Conversion of projects: The displayed error messages are to be understood as warnings. These
parameters should be checked again in the expert list to ensure that the correct values have been
accepted.

Note the general conditions and function restrictions. They are described in the file
STARTER_V44_HF3_Restrictions.pdf.

7 Information on SINAMICS G110
7.1 Communication
USS via RS232:
with the aid of the PC-converter connection kit (6SL3255-0AA00-2AA0) for SINAMICS G110. The
SINAMICS G110 USS converters must be disconnected from the USS bus before fitting the PC-converter
connection kit.

USS via RS485:

SINAMICS G110 USS variant: Terminal 8 + 9 and an external interface converter.
The bus terminating resistors should be connected to the two end devices of the bus.

To establish an online connection to the drive, the following should be checked:

 Set up the correct access port on the PG/PC (under “Set PG/PC interface”: S7ONLINE --> PC COM
port (USS))
 The baud rate on the SINAMICS G110 (P2010) and the baud rate of the PG/PC (under “Set PG/PC
interface”) must be the same
 The address on the SINAMICS G110 (P2011) and of the drive unit in the STARTER project (drive
unit properties) must be the same
 The RS232 interface of the PG/PC should not be occupied by another program.

7.2 Important Notes and Recommendations:

Communication between STARTER and SINAMICS G110

 Please ensure that the set addresses of the MICROMASTER/SINAMICS G110 USS drives on the
USS bus are different! If the drives have the same addresses, unintended starting of these drives
is possible.
 The baud rate should be set to 57600 (P2010).
 Simultaneous use of RS232 and RS485 is not possible.

Download
 Note when working in offline mode with STARTER: If in offline mode the motor data is to be set
via the expert list, please also set P340 = 1 before downloading these settings.

Control panel
 With parameterized OFF2/OFF3 functions via digital inputs P701-P704, these functions are active,
even with active control priority with STARTER.
 To reduce the response time between the PC and the drive, please close the technological dialog
boxes (e.g. Terminals/Bus) or switch off the dialog box update. The response time is also influenced by
the set baud rate and the performance of the PC.

7.3 General conditions and functional restrictions of STARTER V4.4 HF3 for
SINAMICS G110

Function restriction
 The "Trace / Function Generator" and "Measuring Function" buttons do not work with the
SINAMICS G110.
 Note for SINAMICS G110 variants: If there is a difference between the G110 configured offline
(e.g. analog device) and the G110 connected online (e.g. USS device), then no corresponding message
is signalled with "Connect to target system". If an upload is performed, the online device type (e.g. USS
device here) is taken into the data management in the PC. This can subsequently not be changed with
respect to the type.
 Firmware Version V1.0.x and V1.1.x: Parameter P70x should be set to 21. Please check the
current settings (online mode) of the P70x parameters after a download; because of a FW error, the
parameter assumes the value 0 (= blocked) during a download.

Note the general conditions and function restrictions. They are described in the file
STARTER_V44_HF3_Restrictions.pdf.
8 Information on SIMATIC ET200S FC, ET200pro FC
8.1 Communication
USS via RS232:
with the aid of a SIEMENS RS232 cable (6ES7901-1BF00-0XA0), a point-to-point connection can be
established to the converter (RS232 sub D interface on ICU front).

To establish an online connection to the drive, the following should be checked:

 Set up the correct access port on the PG/PC (under “Set PG/PC interface”: S7ONLINE --> PC COM
Port (USS)).
 The baud rate on the ET200S FC and ET200pro FC (P2010[1]; default setting 38.4 KBaud) and the
baud rate of the PG/PC (under “Set PG/PC interface”) must be the same.
 The address on the ET200S FC and ET200pro FC (P2011[1]) is always "0". The address of the drive
unit in the STARTER project (drive unit properties) must also be "0".
 The RS232 interface of the PG/PC should not be occupied by another program.

PROFIBUS
With S7-400 CPUs, the data record routing function is supported from firmware version 5.1.1 onwards.
This means that the connection between PG/PC and the frequency converter in the S7-400 CPU is routed
across network boundaries, e.g. from MPI to PROFIBUS.

PROFINET
When communicating via PROFINET from PG/PC to ET200 FC, only one converter can be
simultaneously switched online behind an ET200 PROFINET IM. This is because the ET200 IM is limited
to one application relationship (AR).
If ET200 frequency converters are used behind PROFINET headers, the following boundary conditions
must be observed:
1. The PROFINET headers must have version 6.0 or higher.
2. ET200 frequency converters firmware V3.0 HF1 (V03.00.56.03). Version 3.0 HF1 has not yet
been released with V6.0 headers for ET200s.

8.2 Important Notes and Recommendations:

Control panel
 The optimal use of the control panel is achieved with a high baud rate (> 38.4 kBaud) or when the
working area (expert list) is closed.

Download
Parameter P14 defines the memory type (RAM/EEPROM) of the parameter values in the converter
written by STARTER online. P14 should have the value 0, so that the parameter values are saved
in the RAM of the converter.

Safety functions
 The parameters of the safety functions can only be changed in online mode. For safety reasons, it
is not possible to transfer these parameters to the converter via a download.
 When converting a project with safety converters, these are converted to non-safety converters
during the conversion. When going online, inconsistency is signalled. The converters must be
converted to safety in the navigation tree in the STARTER project via "Configure drive unit".
 With the safety variant of the ET200S FC, it may occur that the error message F1600 cannot be
acknowledged via the "acknowledgement button" in STARTER. In this case, the error can be
acknowledged in the expert list by setting parameter P952 (sum of the saved errors) to 0.
8.3 General conditions and functional restrictions of STARTER V4.4 HF3 for
SIMATIC ET200S FC, ET200pro FC
Function restriction
 The "Trace / Function Generator" and "Measuring Function" buttons do not work with the ET200S FC
and ET200pro FC.
 Recommendation: The configuration of BICO interconnections should generally be carried out in
online mode.
 For ET200S FC and ET200pro FC V1.0, it is not possible to parameterize the encoder using the
wizard, this means the encoder can only be activated from the expert list (in the help, refer to
encoders or also P1300[3] control type or P0400[3] encoder type selection).

Note the general conditions and function restrictions. They are described in the file
STARTER_V44_HF3_Restrictions.pdf.
9 Information on SINAMICS G120, G120C, G120D, G120P
9.1 Communication

9.1.1 USS-Communication with CU240B and CU240S (FW <= V3.x)

USS via RS232:
with the aid of a SIEMENS RS232 cable (6SL3255-0AA00-2AA0)), a point-to-point connection can be
established to the converter.

To establish an online connection to the drive, the following should be checked:

 Set up the correct access port on the PG/PC (under “Set PG/PC interface”: S7ONLINE --> PC COM
Port (USS)).
 The baud rate on the SINAMICS G120 and G120D (P2010[1]) and the baud rate of the PG/PC
(under “Set PG/PC interface”) must be the same.
 The address on the SINAMICS G120 and G120D (P2011[1]) is always "0". The address of the drive
unit in the STARTER project (drive unit properties) must also be "0".
 The RS232 interface of the PG/PC should not be occupied by another program.

USS via RS485:

Communication is performed using an interface converter (RS232/RS485) and the sub D interface
(RS485 interface, USS) of the G120 CU.

To establish an online connection to the drive, the following general conditions should be checked:
 Set up the correct access port on the PG/PC (under “Set PG/PC interface”: S7ONLINE --> PC COM-
Port (USS)).
 The baud rate on the SINAMICS G120 (P2010[0] for RS485) and the baud rate of the PG/PC (under
“Set PG/PC interface”) must be the same.
 The address on the SINAMICS G120 (P2011[0] for RS485) and the address of the STARTER (drive
unit properties) must be the same.
 The RS232 interface of the PG/PC should not be occupied by another program.

Important notes:
 Please ensure that the set addresses of the drives on the USS bus are different! If the drives have
the same addresses, unintended operation of these drives is possible.
 Please use an appropriate sub D connector version with integrated terminating resistor for the
termination of the RS485 bus on a SINAMICS G120 device.
 USS networking with PLC via RS485:
When commissioning with STARTER, the parameter P2014[0] (USS message frame downtime) is
set to zero (message frame monitoring disabled). Please check the setting of P2014[0] after
commissioning with STARTER. P2012[0] = 4 and P2013[0] = 127 (variable length) are set for the
online connection of STARTER. This means that the control priority of the PLC can be lost.
9.1.2 USB communication with G120C as well as G120/G120P with CU2xx-2 and
FW as of V4.4

Communication is via a standard USB cable.

1. In STARTER, select "S7USB" as interface parameterization under “Options  Set PG/PC interface”.

2. Further communication settings are not required.

As of FW V4.4, the G120 devices are now automatically identified via their name when establishing a
USB connection.

Note:
A USB connection is only possible under the access point "DEVICE" of the PG/PC interface. The access
point "S7ONLINE" currently does not support an "S7USB" connection.

9.2 Important Notes and Recommendations:

A connection of the STARTER via USS is no longer provided for the G120C and G120 with CU2xx-
2, neither via RS232 nor RS484.

Communication
 Please ensure that the set addresses of the drives on the USS bus are different! If the drives
have the same addresses, unintended operation of these drives is possible.
 Please use an appropriate sub D connector version with integrated terminating resistor for the
termination of the RS485 bus on a SINAMICS G120, G120D device.
 The use of the STARTER with CU230P-2 DP via PROFIBUS is presently only possible directly,
i.e. the PC with the STARTER must be connected via the same PROFIBUS strand as the CU230P-2. A
routing connection via a SIMATIC S7 CPU/CP is presently not possible.

Safety
 The parameters of the safety functions can only be changed in online mode. For safety reasons, it
is not possible to transfer these parameters to the converter via a download.

Control panel
 The optimal use of the control panel is achieved with a high baud rate (> 38.4) or when the
working area (expert list) is closed.
 In the case of the G120 CU230P-2, the use of the control panel via the RS485/USS interface is
not possible.

Download
 Parameter P14 defines the memory type (RAM/EEPROM) of the parameter values in the
converter written by STARTER online. P14 should have the value 0, so that the parameter values
are saved in the RAM of the converter.
9.3 General conditions and functional restrictions of STARTER V4.4 HF3 for
SINAMICS G120, G120C, G120D, G120P

Function restriction
 The "Trace / function generator" and "Measuring function" buttons have no function with
SINAMICS G120 and G120D with FW versions < V4.4.
Only with the G120C and the G120/G120P with CU2xx-2 and firmware versions as of V4.4 can
the trace also be used for the G120/G120P.
 The configuration of BICO interconnections should generally be carried out in online mode.
