FAMILY LIFE

S: Hi, Hoang. Long time no see. How’s everything?

B: Hi. Good to see you again..
S: How’s everything?
B: Fine, thanks.
S: Oh, is it? That’s good to hear.
B: Umm, we know each other but don’t know much about each other’s family? So could you tell
me something about your family?
S: Certainly! Me first. Hmm, there’re 4 people in my family: my parents, my elder brother and
me. My parents are both teachers and they are 41 years old. My brother is a student in grade 4.
So, how about your family?
B:_______________________________________________ (kể về từng thành viên) After
dinner, we usually enjoy watching TV together . Do your family often have time to gather too?
S: Of course, when we have dinner together, we often talk about all the things what happened
through that day. We also share the housework because all of us work everyday. It makes us
connected and comfortable so we never complain about doing household chores. We understand
that is the duty of all family members to make a happy home.
B: Awesome! So do my family. Everybody in my family shares the
housework.____________________________________________________________________
(kể về gia đình mình chia sẻ việc nhà như thế nào).
S: What's your responsibility?
B: I need to___________ (kể công việc nhà mà mình thường làm). I think all of us should share
the household to reduce the domestic burden on each members. How about you?
S: I totally agree with you! It is often said that “men build house women make it home” but I
think housework should be shared among the family members and every members need to work
and make important decision affecting the whole family.
B: Right! By the way, do your family often share the interest closely?
S: Of course! We usually share with one another joys and sorrows, good or bad experiences or
problems we encounter. How about you?
B:_______________ (Kể về những thứ bạn chia sẻ với gia đình).
S: Are there any rules in your family?
B: Yes, I think every family sets up its own rules.
S: That’s right, because a family is a society miniature. So there must be a set of rules to keep
everything in order. So, what are your family rules?
B: Every member has to obey family rules: obedience, respect, help the elderly and one another.
S: So my family do. Besides these, I not allowed to come back home too late so I am always be
home before 10 p.m.
B: Do you think these rules limit your own freedom?
S: Never ever. Despite a lot of rules, I feel comfortable and safe because I know that my parents
want best things for me. And I think the family rules are necessary. Therefore, I'll train myself to
follow those rules to get along well with my family.
S: You’re right. I think there's no doubt about the importance of family to one’s life.
S: Sure. We can say nothing in life is more important than it. Family is an essential base for
society. Without family, there is no society.
B: I can't agree with your idea. Family is a place to share the love among people.
S: Family is like a heaven. There is peace, comfortable, love and care. It also help us to achieve
meaningful goals thoughout our life.
B: And it’s a safe place in which you are brought up and protected.
S: As a result of this, we should learn how to appreciate its values and how to conserve them.
B: I agree with you. However, I have to go home now, because I’m going to have a test
tomorror. See you later.
S: See ya 
YOUR BODY AND YOU
S: Hey! It’s good to see you! It’s been ages.
B: Hi, Hoang. Long time no see. How are you?
S: Pretty good. Nothing new really. I find you a little tired. Are you all right?
B: I’m not very well today. I have a stomachache.
S: Oh dear, do you know why you have a stomachache?
B: I don’t know.
S: Did you eat something strange?
B: Maybe. I’m not sure.
S: What did you have for breakfast?
B: Rice with egg and milk.
S: Maybe the milk was old.
B: I didn’t smell bad.
S: Maybe the egg was unriped.
B: But I’d boiled it for over 5 minutes.
S: I recommend you see a doctor to find out the cause of the diseases.
B: I think it will go away in a little while.
S: It seems to me you are very careless about your health.
B: You’re right, but I don’t like visiting the doctor.
S: You have to aware of the importance of going to hospital regularly to avoid health risks and to
make sure you’re really well. Even if you are healthy, it is highly recommended to visit a doctor
usually.
B: I see… So, there’s no point of wasting time finding a doctor on time.
S: Finally, you perceive this problem. Anyway I think “Prevention is better than cure” so you
should take physical exercise regularly and have a balanced diet to keep yourself fit.
B: What do you mean by a balanced diet? Please tell me in detail.
S: A balanced diet means to take regular food containing all the necessary ingredients needed for
health in right proportion. A balanced diet supplies the nutrients your body needs to work
effectively.
B: I think healthy food includes vegetables, fruit, cereal, milk are an important part of keeping
our body nutrition at its optimum.
S: Exactly! And… we need to avoid ready food because it is high in calories, sugar, and fat while
being low in fiber.
B: I think we also ought to sleep enough every night and get at least… 7 to 8 hours of sleep
nightly. However, we need to avoid sleeping too much. What’s your view?
S: Yes, that’s correct instead of sleeping too much, we need to play outsides to motivate the body
to function. On the same occasion, have you ever heard about acupunture?

B: Never, could you tell me more about it?

S: Acupuncture is a form of traditional treatment that involves inserting very thin needles
through a person’s skin at specific points on the body. It can control some types of pain and may
help patients for whom pain medications are not suitable. However, it has some risks that you
need to be cared with.

B: Sound amazing. I’ll try it. Yeah… I really appreciate your useful suggestions. Thank you.
S: You are most welcome. I hope you will follow both of the rules to keep yourself fit.
B: Hmm… I have to find a doctor right now. So see later another day!
S: See ya!
MUSIC

S: Hey! It’s good to see you! It’s been a while!

B: Hi, Hoang. Long time no see. How are you?... And what are you doing?
S: Very well, thanks. I’ve just bought a pair of earbuds so I’m using it to listen to the music
now.
B: Oh, is it? You’re fond of music, aren’t you?
S: Yeah, I really like music. I’ve always been a big fan of music since I was a child.
B: Wow, so do you like all kinds of music?
S: I enjoy listening to all kinds of music but mostly ballad, R&B and country music. I like
the emotion lyrics and melody that they use. How about you?
B: Unlike you, I like rap and EDM. I like its strong rhythm.
S: I listen to pretty much anything, but EDM is not really my cup of tea because of its fast
tempo. However, I sometimes listen to it when I work out. By the way, I am really into K-
pop.
B: Wow, why do you love it?
S: There're many reasons for my interest in K-pop. I like it because I like that way that K-
pop artists perform their music so uniquely. They are visual, good at dancing besides
singing. K-pop songs are more catchy to me than other types of music. Moreover, joyful
KPOP songs can cheer me up when I feel dejected.

B: For me, I pretty love VPOP, especially the “King of VPOP” Son Tung M-TP. He is a great
singer with beautiful voice, he has always worked hard to give high quality music products.
When I listen his songs, I feel very proud of and his music can make me to try my best. Do you
have any idols?

S: Yes, of course. My idol is DAY6 – a South Korean band under label JYP Entertainment.
DAY6 is really a very gifted band, and the group is also quite popular among artists.
DAY6's music is often diverse but always has its own style. All the songs are composed by
all the members, and especially all of the members are vocalist, something very special
among the bands that we often know. Listening to their music makes me feel healed and
peaceful.

B: Such a amazing band. Could you list me one of their songs?

S: Sure! You can try to listen the song… Zombie which is meant to comfort young people
in this era who are under a lot of pressure, have no purpose to live, and no longer feel
loved. The song wants to remind us that we are each individual, but we are not alone.
B: What a meaningful song! I’ll find it then. Thanks for your recommendation.

S: You are most welcome. By the way when do you often listen to music

B: I usually listen to music while I’m traveling or before I going to bed. What about you?

S: Anytime I want… I mean I can listen to music all day with a smart television, during
working alone like doing homework, cleaning household or even sleeping. But for sure I
have preference based on my mood.

B: Awesome! I think you such a music lover… By the way do you have any favorite type of
instrument?

S: Yes, I do. I’m quite keen on keyboard instruments, such as the piano, organ, or electronic
synthesizer. I really enjoy listening to keyboardist playing their instuments.

B: As for me, my favourite musical instrument is the guitar. I like the fact that there are different
types of guitar. I love the variety of sounds a guitar can make.

S: Oh, it seems to me that you are a music enthusiast too. So do you know why music is
important to us?

B: Yes! Music helps us to reduce stress, prevent depression and music will make you happier.
Moreover, it can help us remember certain things, and time in our life.

S: I totally agree with you! It also be used to relax or to focus. When we listen to music, I
feel like there are no more worries in the world.

B: Yes, and music is everywhere around us. We can listening to music at home on a CD player,
or in the car, on the computer, or on an iPod.

S: Music has the power to change the world.

B: Yes, exactly! It plays an important role in our life.

S: That’s why we should listen to music more.

B: It’s too late for school. I should go home now. See you another day

A: See ya!
PRESERVING THE ENVIRONMENT
S: Hey! It’s good to see you! It’s been a while!
B: Hi, Hoang. Long time no see. How are you?... And what are you reading?
S: I’m reading an article on enviroment pollution.

B: That’s cool. I guess you care about the environment a lot.

S: Oh! I do. Environmental pollution is one of the biggest problems that the world faces
today. It is being polluted day by day.

B: Yeah, I think pollution is not only dangerous for the Earth but also for us, too!

S: I totally agree with you! Nowadays, some plants and animals are likely to become
extinct. If that problem happens, the ecosystem will be imbalance in the short time.

B: You are right! The result of environmental pollution is an issue that harm to us. Do you know
some reasons of that?

S: Of course! They are rapid growth of population, motor vehicles, industrial wastes,
human wastes and so on.

B: Yes, very much. And which kind of pollution that you think is the most dangerous one?

S: Umm, lemme see. As we know, there are many differents kinds of pollution… but I think
air pollution and water pollution are the most dangerous to our lives.

B: Why do you think so?

S: Hmm… Actually there are many reasons to be troubled by the water pollution. But one
of them is that water is life for the whole planet, every creature depends on its quality. We
need fresh water everyday to survive.

B: So if the water is polluted, the world will be endangered. And air pollution is dangerous too?

S: Yes, it is. Breathing polluted air causes many respiratory diseases, damages buildings
and forests.

B: You are right. But how can we prevent environment from being polluted?

S: Environment pollution can be prevented in many ways. But the main way is to make the
people aware of its harmful effect.

B: When people are aware of the dangers and we work together, we do it well.
S: Absolutely, we can driving less, using renewable energy and stop wasting. Umm… have
you ever recycled waste?

B: Yeah, I do. I recyle glass, plastic… How about you?

S: Yeah, me too. I recycle newspaper, magazines, cans, glass, bottles, plastic and so on. But
not everything can be recycled. I don’t know exactly but if they are inorganic waste, maybe
you can recycle and if they are organic one, you can’t.

B: Yeah, like a banana. Banana will go away with time but plastic no. So banana can’t be
recycled like plastic.

S: In Vietnam there is a really popular profession called “ve chai”. It's when there are you
know garbage collectors will come to your house and you know collect all of your trash and
they will pay for you for collecting those things.

B: Oh! I actually know that because my family have sold lots of our trash for the garbage buyers.

S: Sounds great. We need to recycle to try to reduce the pollution and to make the
environment more green.

B: Yeah but some people still think worrying about it is pointless action.

S: I disagree with them. They just care too much about standards of living. But technically
you can have a high standard of living and still care about the environment.

B: I completely agree! Another throw the empty paper bags away. They can litter everywhere.

S: It’s not a nice thing to do. It really spoil the scenery. I think they are lazy or maybe they
just don’t care.

B: People should clean up before they leave and not leave waste around.

S: That’s right. And I think the government should aslo be involved to solve this issues by
promoting citizen to plant more trees or fining people who pollute the environment exacly.

B: Exacly. Oh! It’s too late for school. I should go home now. See you another day

S: See ya!
