Highlights
We investigate over 14,000 papers on Green Chemistry and their references by cocitation analysis,
generating a panorama of trends in Green Chemistry research from 1990 until 2017.

Resumo/Abstract
Green Chemistry (GC) is a growing field with huge peaked between 2010-2014. Deep Eutectic Solvents
accumulated publications, hampering qualitative and Lignin Valorization are very fresh trends. This

technique relies on the co-occurrence of citations to a
set of references to investigate research fronts2 (a Figure 1: Data retrieval information.
joint of fresh, highly cited papers around a same
theme) associated to an intellectual base (a group of
cocited documents that supports the knowledge in the
front). We selected 14,142 documents (Fig. 1) and
used the CiteSpace2 software to perform the analysis,
generating a network of publications in GC, finding 16
trends in GC research of which we present the 9 most
relevant in Table 1. The oldest and biggest trends
arose in 1999 until recent years: Characterization of
GC; Metallic and Microwave assisted Catalysis;
