Hopefully no one will need it, but be aware that DKG has an Emergency
Fund to help in case a disaster befalls your property. At the State
Executive Board Meeting, we were told about a member whose house
burnt to the ground and she lost absolutely everything including her pets.
At the luncheon on Saturday, there were small red bags on each table
where donations could be placed to help her. About $1100 was collected
from those in the room. People in our chapter have benefitted from this
fund, so know that if you need it, it is there. And, if we collect for the fund,
be as generous as you can be.
The theme of the Conven0on was “Change is Healthy and Beau0ful” and
its symbol was the the buOerfly.

catering before Florida became #1 in the na=on for Covid cases. Central
Florida was not spared from its scourge. She and the State officers finally
accommodated those who wished to do the mee=ng by Zoom, but there
were requirements for the number of hotel rooms booked as well. It all
worked out and the Conven=on was on and well done for those in person.
Zoom had its issues for those connec=ng remotely to say the least.
The break-out sessions were interes=ng and well done but many of the
original presenters had to be replaced because of illness or other reasons.
Those present were challenged to make this year in each chapter
successful. One ques=on Roxanne Berger asked of the group was, “If your
chapter was dissolved tomorrow, would it be missed by your community?”
Many had to wonder if it would be.
The people present were wonderful and inspiring. There were many young,
enthusias=c teachers aAending and that was absolutely wonderful to see.
