8- Types of patient transportation to department:

1. AMBULATORY TRANSPORTATION : is the most common form of non-


emergency medical transportation. It is for patients who do not
need equipment to travel and who are able to walk, or only need
basic assistance.
2. STRETCHER :In addition, stretcher medical transport is available,
specifically for patients who suffer from back conditions or who
cannot sit upright. Scheduling this service implies that emergency
assistance is not required in transit or at time of arrival.
3. WHEELCHAIR :Wheelchair transport services offer help to those who
are confined to a wheelchair or who cannot walk on their own.
CPR-trained drivers operate the vans and wheelchair lifts.
Wheelchairs are available for rent and special consideration is given
to patients with disabilities. Again, the use of this service implies
that the patient does not need immediate emergency care at the
time of service.

The main function of the nirse if the admission department are to study patients
documentation and accompany them to the duty doctors office.- fill up the form
‘Medical card of the inpatient’ 2 fill up ‘Accounting Journal of admission of
the patients3-examine a patient for pediculosis and measure the body
temperature; performs procedures and manipulations assigned by duty
doctor; call consultants and technicians in the emergency department;
monitor the patient’s condition that are placed in isolator, and promptly
performs doctor’s instructions for examination and treatment.

13-Types of medical beds :

1. Gatch beds: seen in nursing homes they have 3 cranks at foot of bed
below mattres . 1- one raises and lowers the bed .2 lowers and raised the
head of the bed 3 lowers and raised the foot of bed
2. Electric beds: basic hospital beds.options are given on the buttons to
lower and raise the bed.
3. Stretchers: types of bed in emergency rooms designed for mobility with
special features such as folding legs to carry the patient easily.
4. Low beds :For patients who are liable to fall off the bed easily to avoid
any kind of injury .
5. Low Air Loss beds: Is a type of beds which has a special system to blow
air in the mettress.these beds are designed for patients with skinr rashes
and diseased like ulcers etc
6. Circo -electric beds:enable the bed to rotate in circular path .this is for
patients with spinal injuries who cannot move .
7. Clinitron beds :similar to Low Air beds and circo-electric beds for
patients with ulcers,skin disorders, burns. Ir reduces pressure on the
patients skin because of the material which circulates air throught the
material to maintain the body temperature and maintain the body weight
evenly.

Trendelenburg : These are fully electric beds with adjustable positions such
as trendelburg position and the cardiac chair position.

Fowler/Ward beds: designed for knee and back rest.Have side rails.

14-Types of hospitalization

 Planned hospitalization.
 Emergency hospitalization.
 Hospitalization when the patient came by themselves.
