Quirino St.

The street was named after Elpidio Quirino, a political leader and the second president
of the Independent Republic of the Philippines. He declared the municipality of Alamada
as a public land on March 10, 1953 and made it as a resettlement site under
Proclamation No. 376. After its declaration as a resettlement area, President Quirino
designated the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to implement the “Land for the
Landless Program”.

Elpidio Quirino was not a hero or a leader. Corruption and cronyism have tarnished his
image. He was re-elected president in 1949, under suspicion of dishonest and
fraudulent election. He is notorious for tolerating widespread bribery and corruption
inside his party, allowing immorality in the military, and ignoring the hardship of the
majority of Filipinos. He will never be thought of as a hero.

Magsaysay St.

President Ramon Magsaysay considered the municipality of Alamada as pilot project for
resettlement for the HUK surrenderees where the Genio Farm was established in 1954
and known to be the largest EDCOR (Economic Development Corps) farm with 863
settler-families cultivating an area of 4,959 hectares.

Ramon Magsaysay deserves to be remembered as a hero. He's dubbed the

"Champion of the People." He is caring and sympathetic. He spoke out about
rural issues that had been overlooked by past presidents. His remarkable rural
development schemes only served to demonstrate his sincerity in helping the
underprivileged. He is a hero because of his modesty and honesty in
responding to the concerns of regular people. He took on the role of a voice
for the residents who had no one else to speak for them. He's also famous for
crushing the Hukbalahap movement, which was led by communists.

Rizal only wanted what’s best for his motherland. He did not wish to
be known, all he wanted was to open the minds and hearts of the
Filipinos. He improved his talents not for himself but to be able to help
the Philippine
