1) a) Level of hierarchy is the different levels of management where people do their


shares of responsibility.

b) Line of communication is clearer, therefore, has better employee performance, and


faster decision making.

c) Tin Co’s workers might join the Trade Union to ask for better pay and for better
accident prevention regulations. By doing this, mine workers may finally get their pay
raise, and fewer accidents will happen at their job.

d) Managing - Making sure everything in the mines are functioning properly, to


overlook worker’s performance, and to help/respond when needed.

Commanding - Making decisions and giving instructions on what the workers should
be doing. Without someone leading, the workers will have no directions to follow,
which could become dangerous, considering that their work environment is a mine.

e) Yes, Jin should adopt a democratic leadership style. Democratic leadership is


most likely to build team relationships as well as make every worker’s opinion count.
By getting ideas form everyone on the team, the business is guaranteed to have
higher levels of commitment, and a strong vision for the future.

2) a) Reply given from consumer back to the sender, discussing issues about the
certain product, he or she has received.

b) Sending emails to employees, and posting notice boards throughout the


workspace.

c) UPA’s consumers are from various countries worldwide, therefore language


difficulties may become visible. UPA also sells to retailers directly first before
consumers, which could lead to mixed communication between UPA and their
consumers.

d) Social Media - Run advertisements on social websites using influencers, and since
everyone can get online nowadays, getting feedback can become easier and faster.

Email - Personalized emails containing news on special offers can be sent to


consumers, since most consumers of UPA’s products have access to the internet.

e) No, because by doing one-way communication, workers cannot give feedback and
share ideas with each other (eg. how to maintain quality control), which would lead to
a close minded workspace with lesser innovation. This would demotivate the
workers, and eventually could cause high worker turnovers.

c) - A business plan can provide Juan a checklist, so that as his business continues
to grow, Juan can see what parts are good, and what parts needs improvement.

- A business plan can help Juan understand the potential ris, as Juan has never had
experience running a business before.

d) -Juan can keep in touch with customers by email, phone calls and newsletters, so
that customers will not forget about Juan and his shoe business.

- Juan can make customer loyalty programs, such as gift cards, so that customers will
want to keep coming back when they need their shoe fixed, and to benefit from
possible offers the card can have.

e) By choosing a free free training from the government, Juan can prevent making
wrong decisions that could cost him more money, so it is better to have some training
so that he can spend his money effectively. Since Juan also has no shareholders in
his business at the moment, as a sole trader, Juan can get free training from the
government, so that at difficult times, he won't make wrong decisions and fail.

4) a) A business partnership is where two or more people agree to jointly own the
business.
