2 MN328] Activity 01 – Enzyme Kinetics

Instructions:
1. Click and read the Overview for the simulation.
2. Click and read the supplementary information for each of the parameter/condition to be
considered in this simulation.
3. Click “RUN the program” to download the .exe file for this simulation. Click the downloaded .exe
file to open the simulation.
4. Select the Enzyme assigned to your group.
5. Perform the simulations and record the changes in enzymatic activity as you modify the
conditions. Modify parameters/conditions one at a time. Use the maximum range for the
parameter/condition being considered without inhibitor (“No Inhibitor”) as your initial setup (for
all other conditions, use the default values provided in the simulation). Consider 3 modifications
per parameter/condition to complete your data set.
6. Select the maximum inhibitor concentration.
7. Submit your initial data (printouts of the data from the virtual lab) and answers to the General
Guide Questions listed below on or before Friday, October 08, 11:59 PM.
8. Analyze and interpret your data.
9. Organize and discuss your results in a paper. See Guidelines for Lab Report for instructions and
format.
10. Submit your Final Lab Report on or before Friday, October 15, 11:59 PM.

GENERAL GUIDE QUESTIONS

1. What is the chemical basis of enzyme specificity?
2. What is the effect of changing the parameter/condition on enzyme activity?
a. At which condition does the enzyme show activity?
b. At which condition does the enzyme work best?
3. What is the effect of adding the inhibitor on enzyme activity? #END
