b) A unit load AS/RS uses an S/R machine for each aisle of the system. The length of the 7
storage aisle is 80m and height is 10m. Horizontal and vertical travel speeds of the S/R
machine are 45 m/min and 8 m/min respectively. The S/R machine requires 40 second to
accomplish a P & D operation. Determine the single command and dual command cycle
transaction times for the storage system. What is the vertical travel speed to make the system
'square in time'?
