ACTIVITY PAPER NO. 3
Questions:

1. Do you think Ms. Dholi Ong is able to spend her days wisely as a project manager? Defend your answer.
2. What are some of the skills that Ms. Ong possesses as a good project manager based on the case?
3. What are some of the Problems that Ms. Ong as project manager encounters during the day? Name
them.
4. How will you characterize the project team of Ms. Ong?
5. What does the case tell you about being a project manager?

ANSWER:

1. Ms. Dholi Ong, as a project manager has serious time management skills, she fully utilizes every single minute
of the day at work. She arrived to work earlier than most of her co-employees. She manages to set the time where
she was in the client’s place until 7:30 pm, spending time with clients can build trust for the ongoing project
where they can discuss and catch up with the progress. During the night she makes a review of tomorrow’s
schedule and jots down personal reminders and in the morning, she makes a 15-minute review of her schedule
and replies to those important messages. Below is the detailed information as the basis for this answer:
She spent, 10 minutes socializing and catching up with her colleague Orly who just completed project abroad.
She arrived early to work making her utilize the time for a little socialization.
Allotted 25 minutes to go over the project reports and prepare for a weekly status meeting.
Allotted 20 minutes meeting with the boss.
Spent 30 minutes reviewing/helping another project manager to bring the project back on track.
Make several phone calls and replies on some email before meeting her project team.
She manages to take a short break despite a busy schedule and listens to her favorite music, a way of relaxation
and managing stress.
Productively spent 30 minutes to speak to purchasing employee to get necessary materials to the project location
on time.
She catches up some more emails while waiting for everyone to get online during the Webinar.
Set up a 30-minute review and analysis with the project team for the impact of client’s request and about the
update they agreed with Rachel.
Spent another 20 minutes updating the boss for the key events of the day.
Before the day ends she spent another 30 minutes assessing project documents and answering emails.
She provided 30 minutes for the initiative of registering to MS Project Schedule and work on “what if” scenarios.
Lastly set another 10 minutes to jot down some personal reminders before starting to head home.

2. The skills that Ms.Ongg posses as a project manager are

3. Some problems that Ms.Ongg encounters during the day is

- She arrives earlier than most of her co-employees and project team. This will not utilize the time for
each member.
- Her boss has to cut a portion of her time for an ambush meeting and even shared a rumor about her
team member using “Shabu”.
