In this lesson/video that I watch it talks about Reading blueprints or they called it Mechanical Drafting.

First he explaining that we need to learn a language in reading blueprint, which is a graphic language
because blueprint is not just a visual representation of the object but it is a language in order for us to
understand what is the purpose of this certain things,or it guides us on how to make these things that
we see. next he talks about lines that used in the blueprint, like contour line, hidden line dimension line,
section line and phantom line. Which are common for us since we have our drawing subject plus CAD
subject but in CAD we didn’t explore it much since pandemic happened. Also I learned how to use those
lines, for example I draw a Gear, and it is very obvious that we use contour line but in order for the
readers to understand that it is a gear I also draw side view to show them the exact length and width,
then put hidden lines to show that it is hollow inside. Then put extension lines, dimension lines and
center lines to give more details about the drawing.

In the next video it tells us about different views that might need in a certain object. For example, we
have a rim of a car, so we need to identify the different views of the object, so in this case obviously the
circular shape of it the will be the front view of the object then we can also have a bottom view showing
the width of the object. Then put the different lines needed in the drawing to give details. Aside of
identifying different views we also have kinds of drawing which is assembly drawing and detailed
drawing. For me base from names we can say the difference of it, so first assembly drawing, in this type
of drawing it show the different parts of the object labeling it in sequence to understand how it can be
build and in addition we also need to put dimension lines to show the overall measurements of the
object. While detailed drawing is a large scale of drawing because in this type it shows the different
parts of the object showing the dimension lines and detailed lines in order for the object to be
manufactured.

In the last video he explains more about dimensions and tolerance, he tells that in putting dimension
there is a law of never repetitions, so since we have the knowledge in showing different views of an
object as reference for example screw jack blueprint he gave example in the video, as we can see that
there are views that is repeated but the point of what it shows is different we cannot repeat to put the
same dimensions so the dimension tolerance is use to show the difference between maximum and
minimum lengths and also in reading blueprint we must see that there are notes given in the blueprint.
Geometrical tolerances are used on mechanical drafting to represent comprehensive geometrical
requirements in a concise and exact manner. And it should always be considered for surfaces which
come into contact with other parts, especially when close tolerances are applied to the features
concerned.
