INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of Project

In the current era of highly advanced technology, we are required to do things quickly
and practically by utilizing increasingly sophisticated technology. even during a pandemic like
now where we can't gather freely with colleagues, the existence of advanced technology allows
us to do online collaboration that can be done anywhere and anytime without having to meet
face to face. One example of technology that can make it easier for us to do online collaboration
is WhatsApp and Canva.
Based on the description above, a project was carried out to make online collaboration
using the application above to add insight about online collaboration, and know how to operate,
and what features can be used to facilitate online collaboration.

1.2 Purpose
• Create posters that contains information about COVID-19’s timeline and the
preventions.
• Find out how to do online collaboration in the Canva and WhatsApp applications.
• Also, to fulfil the online project collaboration task assessment for the Digital Literacy
and Communication for Information System Practitioners course on online
collaboration material.

THEORETICAL BASIS

2.1 Online Collaboration

Online collaboration is an activity that is done together in a group that is carried out by
utilizing the internet network and requires structured action caring a group to be able to work
towards a common goal. Online collaboration is usually supplemented using a software system
that lets team members chat using video, audio and text. It is mainly a way to improve

communication and bolster project efficiency.

2.2 WhatsApp
WhatsApp Messenger, or simply WhatsApp, is a service owned by Facebook, Inc. that
allows users to send text messages and voice messages, makes voice and video calls, and share
images, documents, user locations, and more with just a Wi-Fi connection. Part of what makes
this app appealing is that it works on various phone and computer operating systems, so we
can continue our conversation anytime, anywhere. It can also take advantage of Wi-Fi and
cellular data to make one-on-one or group calls, reducing the need for expensive calling
charges.

2.3 Canva
Canva is a free-to-use online graphical design tool platform that combines design, photo
editing, and layout to help anyone create beautifully finished projects and also to simplify the
process. As such, an account can easily be created and everything works either via a web
browser or on the iOS or Android apps. This application also provides a variety of design
examples to use.

PROJECT METHODOLOGY

3.1 Materials and Tools

The materials and tools needed to carry out this project or experiment are:
1. Personal laptop or computer
2. Internet data
3. Idea

3.2 Project Work Steps

1. Discussing what kind of project that we can make within online collaboration through
WhatsApp.

2. One of us will share a link to work on a project in Canva. This is how to get the share
link in Canva :
• Open Canva.com, and then click the share button.

 • Make sure the text in the box below is “Share a link to edit” so other member can
also participate on editing the posters.

• After that, click the “Copy link” and share it to WhatsApp group.

1. After all member join the Canva room, we started to design the poster and search the
decoration we want in Element feature. This feature contains various picture, gif, or
decoration that can make our posters looks better and prettier.

3. We also can discuss more in Canva using comment feature. This is one of the features
in Canva where we can add comments to discuss with each other, so that we don’t need
to going back and forth between other chatting apps and Canva and can focus more on
the project that we are working on.

CONCLUSION

5.1 Conclusion
In conclusion, after conducting an online collaboration project as above, we know that
the existence of advanced technology now has become one of the factors that allow us to do a
collaboration that can be done anywhere and anytime without having to hold a face-to-face
meeting. The Advances in technology really make it easier for humans to work together better.
Especially, there are some plentiful applications or platforms that can help and make it easier
for us to do an online collaboration. Two of them are Canva and WhatsApp. By using Canva
and WhatsApp, not only we can communicate together, but we can also create project or
creation because there are so many features that can support us while doing the online
collaboration. With so many conveniences like this, all we need to prepare before doing the
online collaboration is a personal computer, an internet network, and of course prepare your
ideas. So, there is no more reason not to be able to do an online collaboration.
