This course seeks to promote the development of skills essential to student success, while exposing
them to issues critical to the University and to society. Some of the skills this course seeks to
develop are effective reading, writing, speaking, sound study habits, and an understanding of the
historical importance of the University. By so doing, this course seeks to help students gain
intellectual confidence; build their expectation of academic success; provide them assistance in
making the transition to the University, and beginning to understand their roles in society.
Mode of delivery
c) Learning Outcomes:
All course work will be graded on content, neatness, and timeliness. Students should submit only their
best work, and should be reminded to take time to proofread and correct papers ahead of submission.
Each assignment will be worth the following points:
• Forums 20 marks
• Monthly journal 30 marks
• Test 30 marks
• Group assessment 20 marks
e) Grading Scheme:
A - 75 – 100%
B - 65 to less than 75%
C - 55 to less than 65%
D - 45 to less than 55%
F - 0 to less than 45%
