BA HONS (3 years) or Foundation Course. BA HONS (First 2 years are development based) First 2 3rds of the year are in classes; Movement, Voice, Acting For Stage and Acting For Camera. Last term of the year is performance preparation. There is an opportunity to be involved in a showcase and taken on set, where there is also a practical dissertation. Mainly practical Work. Mostly coursework, 3rd year is more individual work. There are 2 singing classes a week – one as an ensemble and one individually. Majority is theatre based; there is Acting for Camera in the first year it is based around Learning techniques. And the second year is based around acting in front of camera. PERSONAL STATEMENT – Is a chance to get a sense of who you are. Express your interest in practitioners and genres. 6, 7, 8 hours a day; 30 hours a week. Groups of 18 (x2) Audition (First Round) is a self-tape. Recall audition is in person. Find your own voice within the piece, look at productions and translations on “No fear Shakespeare”. – Have the same attitude as with contemporary. – Choose a character you can connect with and work on the language. 1 = Meisner, 2= Keith, 3 = Le Coque Competitive applications, therefore naming previous experience presents you with an advantage. The examiners want to see something. If someone puts loads of previous experience on their CV and is a low level actor, they question the validity and quality of training. They are looking for talent and people to train. There is a start in the 2nd year and a module in the 3rd year surrounding Professional Preparation= - Showreel - Agents - Voice Reels - Showcase - Headshots - Industry Consultants - Pastoral Care In an audition you can sing whatever you like. Characters aren’t subject to gender. Can’t work professionally until the 3rd year. People get in the 2nd year usually because they’re more comfortable with themselves / attitude / life experience. Case – by – Case students can work on productions over summer. There are summer essays.
