internal diameter of the arms has been enlarged to enable

need for more digital and analogue signals to be transmitted.
The modular concept allows flexible positioning of outlets
and accessories on the supply head panels.

Whether in intensive care, recovery rooms or emergency/
trauma rooms, health care is increasingly complex. Being
able to respond quickly is absolutely essential. Although
medical devices are getting smaller, the number of machines
in use is increasing regularly. MAQUET's ALPHA-PORT
ceiling service units provide the solution by offering better
equipment management.
Quick and easy access: ALPHA-PORT arms move smoothly,
and with the right radius of action (from 600 to 2400 mm)
several people can work easily around a single patient and
freely access the patient’s head and thorax from all sides.

ORGANISING THE OPERATING THEATRE
ALPHA-PORT
To cater for the diversity of surgical methods, ceiling service
units must be flexible enough to allow each surgeon to organise
the working space and ensure that ceiling service units can be
positioned quickly and precisely in the event of an emergency
or simply before and after each operation. The development of
minimally invasive surgery, telemedicine and videoconferencing
all require various signal cables to be run through ceiling service
units. ALPHA-PORT provides an ideal solution for these
requirements and is ready for future technological progress.
Stability and precise positioning: The high-performance
friction brakes guarantee total stability and smooth movements.
The new electro-pneumatic brake system allow movements
to be smoother and more precise than ever, which is ideal
for heavy anaesthesia equipment.
Operating theatre with ALPHA-PORT surgical ceiling service unit,
console 800 and SATELITE multimedia system equipped with HANAULUX
3000 surgical lights, flat screens and anaesthesia infusion holder.
Ready for the future: As interconnections within an operating
theatre and even remote connections have become common
place, ALPHA-PORT ceiling service units feature arms with
wider inside diameter and offer a large selection of low
voltage outlets.
An eye for detail: An important range of accessories ensures
that ALPHA-PORT can be used with all weights and sizes of
equipment. The shelves can carry net loads of up to 80 kg/
176 lb. Flat screen support arms can be positioned at will
to ensure that the entire surgical team has an unobstructed
view. Cable management solutions are available to prevent
accidents and improve hygiene. Cable slots on the service
units ensure that wires can be routed after installation, and
cable winding reels are also available.
Console 800 with cable slot built into the distribution module to allow for
post-installation additions.

An exhaustive preliminary study is essential

u n i t . To s i m p l i f y t h i s c o m p l e x p r o c e s s
MAQUET has developed the OR3D program,
which provides a three-dimensional graphical
simulation of a future fully-equipped facility
(operating theatre, recovery room, intensive
care room and similar services). OR3D is a
full-featured, customisable dynamic planning
tool that covers all requirements. It designs
the operating room, assigns a position for
each product, managers tenders by groups
of products, automatically generates a
technical file for the production of each unit.
