Analysis of The Story of Beauty and the Beast and Lutung

Kasarung

Here are the similarities and differences to the karmic value contained in both stories;

 A loving father

A father should love his child without discriminating between one another and willing to sacrifice for
the happiness of the child. In that jam, a father must be wise in acting and making a decision. Thus it
will cause the child's affection for the sincere father without expecting anything in return. As in the
story of the rough.

"Prabu Tapa Agung has thought carefully that to continue his leadership he will appoint Purbasari.

While in the fairy tale Beauty and The Beast the figure of the father is described as follows

"Once it was a merchant who had three beautiful daughters named, Pretty, Sweety, and Beauty. One
day, when the merchant was about to leave for the market, his three daughters asked for something
when he returned. Pretty asks her to buy her a pretty dress, Sweety asks for a pearl necklace but
Beauty just wants a rose.

Similarity: Both stories tell of a wise father who loves his daughters without discriminating.

Difference: In the story lutung Kasarung depicted the figure of the father and king who has seven
daughters. While in the fairy tale Beauty and The Beast the father figure told is a merchant who has
three daughters.

Karmic value: If a father loves his children, his children will return the favor for the love that has
been given.

 Simple girl

A girl should behave well, be polite, not overdo it, accept the situation, and help the distressed. In
addition, a good girl must have a loving nature towards all creatures such as plants, animals and
certainly humans. In the story excerpt Lutung Kasarung told as follows

"Purbasari is very good nature and behavior. He is gentle, sweet, and helpful. Anyone who needs help

1. Curse

A curse is a prayer or a word that can cause distress or disaster to a person, a distress or a disaster that

True love is a sincere, holy, pure love that grows out of the heart without looking at the physicality of

Similarity: Both stories tell the meeting of true love whose partner is not in the original form.

Difference: In the story of Lutung Kasarung meet each other in the forest. While in the fairy tale
Beauty and The Beast meet each other in the palace because the girl replaces her father as a captive
beast.

Karmic Value: Under no circumstances will one find his true love.

 Human invasion

Human beings are usually ugly-faced making people feel scared and disturbed so that the community
wants to attack and kill the human being.

"So, when he heard purbararang's plan to look for sacrificial animals in the forest, Lutung Kasarung
allowed himself to be captured by purbararang's men.

Difference: In the story of Lutung Kasarung the man who turned himself in to be captured by the
citizens but after arriving at the palace Lutung Kasarung rampaged and attacked back the soldiers.
While in the fairy tale Beauty and The Beast humans are attacked by the citizens but the Beast does
not stay silent. He attacked the citizens who attacked him with all their might.

Karmic Value: A person who is cursed will definitely not be accepted by society and exiled by the
citizens.

 Loss of curse

The curse can be lost when the person has qualified the person who cursed it. For example, like,
finding universal love, a kiss of true love, doing a good and so on. The loss of the curse can restore
the original cursed form.

"Before Purbararang ordered the executioner to behead Purbasari. Lutung Kasarung suddenly sat
cross-legged with his eyes closed. His mouth looks a shock. Suddenly thick smoke enveloped Lutung
Kasarung's body. Not in a long time, thick smoke disappeared, a rough figure with an ugly face,

fairy tale Beauty and The Beast the loss of the curse when Beauty kisses the Beast and turns the Beast
into a handsome prince.
Karmic Value: If a person loves with sincerity then he will get the result of his sincerity, a
handsome prince.

Moral Message of Lutung Kasarung Fairy Tale


1. Forgiving to others Because we were created as human beings is the wrong place,
and it has become our nature to forgive each other.
2. We must not humble others because there is a characteristic of arrogant people, we
are all created equal and need each other so it would be wonderful if we could
make a good bond without degrading each other.
Moral Message of Fairy tales Beauty and The Beast

1. Putting family first


Family is the most precious treasure for us. Our father or mother all have infinite prices.
2. Self-Sacrifice
Willing to sacrifice to help our loved ones.
3. Repaying goodness with kindness
Renacana Belle's escape from the Beast's palace is thwarted when in the forest, the wolves
attack her. Just then, the Beast comes and saves Belle from attack. The Beast's success against
the wolves left him injured and exposed. Belle abandons her desire to go home and help the

tale Beauty and The Beast, Beauty is a kind and obedient girl to her father. He willingly succeeded his
father as a beast prisoner. Eventually Beauty falls in love with the Beast who was originally a
handsome prince.
