I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

a) Identify the different types of poultry.


b) Appreciate the importance of knowing the types of poultry in relation to animal
production and human life.
c) Create a creative presentation about the types of poultry.

B. Review

 Let the students recall Plant Propagation (Grafting and Budding)


1. What do you call is the art and science dealing with the
multiplication of plants?
2. This method in propagation of fruit trees does need seed to
grow, what is it?
3. What is the other method in propagation of trees?
4. What is the different types of horticultural techniques under
Asexual method?
5. Why is it important to know the proper way of cutting scion in
Grafting?

C. Motivation

 Body Letters
 Group the students into 2 to 4 groups and have them to use their
bodies to spell the cards (where the 6 types of poultry is written)
they picked but if they did not guess the correct answer the points
will be invalidate. There are five rounds in five (5) minutes. The first
group who will guess as many as they can will be the winner.

D. Lesson Proper
Today, we are going to find out the different types of poultry and its
characteristics.

 Do you have background on taking care of any type of poultry?
 Did you know that there is two way of raising birds?
 Did you know that pigeons are consider a type of poultry?

F. Generalization: Poultry simply provide humans with companionship,


food and fiber in the form of eggs, meat and feathers. This types of
poultry are chickens, geese, ducks, guinea fowl, quail, and turkeys.
There are also emus, peacocks, swans, pheasants, partridges and
pigeons that we may consider as poultry.

G. Application: Group Activity


Directions: The teacher will group the students into two (2) and will
give them a three characteristics of a poultry which the students will
guess what type of poultry is that and present it creatively. The first
group who finish it first will guarantee a highest performance score.

H. Values Integration: What is the importance of knowing different types


of poultry in everyday life of a person especially to the farmers.

IV. EVALUATION
Directions: Identify the types of poultry which is being asked.

Chickens 1. Requires about 4 square feet per bird, and a small run.
Turkeys 2. The males in this type of poultry is always happy to show
off their plumage and bright blue heads.
Guinea fowl 3. Can keep without any shelter at all, as they can fly high
enough into the trees for night roosting to be safe from predators.
Emus 4. The flightless birds from Australia, have become prized for
their meat and large, speckled eggs.
Turkeys 5. Originate from Mexico and Central America.
Peacocks 6. kept on farms for their beautiful feathers and amusing
personalities, despite their very loud calls.
Red Junglefowl 7. first being domesticated in Asia from a wild bird.
Quail 8. great birds to keep on a small farm because they need
only 1 square foot per bird in a shelter.
Quail 9. An adult ____eat only about 15g of feed a day.
Geese 10. They also known as guard animals.
