 What are the commands used in CUI and GUI with advantages to an organization?

CUI and GUI are two important user interface used to send commands to a computer processor.
Both accomplish the same goal. CUI stands for Character User Interface while GUI refers to
Graphical User Interface. Though both are interfaces and serve the purpose of running the
programs, they differ in their features and the control they provide to the user. Character User
Interface (CUI) is a kind of user interface that uses only alphanumeric characters and pseudo
graphics for input-output and presentation of information. GUI is what most modern computers
make use of. This is an interface that makes use of graphics, images, and other visual clues such
as icons. This interface made it possible for a mouse to be used with a computer and interaction
really became very easy as the user could interact with just a click of the mouse rather than
having to type every time to give commands to the computer. The Customize User Interface
(CUI) Editor in AutoCAD provides a wide range of options to create and modify all the content
that can be displayed with workspaces. The Customize User Interface allows user to not only
create new user interface elements and commands from scratch, but you can also copy existing
user interface elements and commands to modify them. When customizing the CUI file that
come with AutoCAD or creating your own CUIx files, the Customize User Interface (CUI)
Editor creates a backup copy of the file when you first start making changes to the CUI file. A
GUI uses windows, icons, and menus to carry out commands such as opening, deleting and
moving files. For example; if a user wants to open a program on a GUI system, one can simply
move the mouse pointer and double click on it. Whereas in a command line interface, one needs
to know the command to navigate to the directory containing the program, list the files and the
run the file. Unlike CUI, GUI user interface are easier to learn and easy to use as commands do
not need to be memorized. Because of their ease and modern appearances, GUI systems are more
dominant in the modern market.

Advantages of CUI :

 An easier to use interface enables users to learn the system quickly and use it efficiently.
 Consistency between UNIX platforms enables users to move from one computer to
another with minimal difficulty. It also enables programmers to write a single application
that can be compiled for each platform, significantly reducing development effort.
 The desktop provides as much consistency as possible with the Microsoft Windows and
IBM OS/2 environments. This enables users to easily move between these environments
and the desktop.
 Unlike many competing operating systems, several built-in productivity applications
enable the desktop user to be productive before buying application software.

Advantages of GUI:

 For non-technical people or for beginners good GUI’s tends to make easiness in life. For
example with few clicks on buttons user can easily make his work done. Software in
shops for calculation of products sold and inventory can be better managed even by a
non-technical guy.
 GUI users have a window that allows a user to work, view, and control and manipulate
multiple programs and folders at the same time.
 In GUI, the user mostly gets immediate visual feedback of what the user is doing for
example: the user can see immediately that a file is successfully moved from one
directory to another.
