- It is a strategy of producing standardization gods or services, but incorporating
some degree of customization in the final product or services.
2. Name two factors that could make services design much different than product design.
- Product are generally tangible; services are generally intangible
- Product can be inventoried; services cannot be inventoried.
3. Explain the term robust design.
- Design that result in products or services that can function over a board rang eof
conditions.
4. Explain what quality function deployment is and how it can be useful.
- QFD is an approach that integrates “voice of the customer” into both product
and service development. The purpose is to ensure that customer requirements
are factored into every aspect of the process from product planning to the
production floor. Listening to and understanding the customer is the central
feature of QFD.
5. What is reverse engineering? Do you feel this is unethical?
- Reverse engineering is the process of dismantling and inspecting a competitor's
product in order to find ways to enhance it.
