ACADEMIC LOAD OF THE STUDENTS


One University unit of credit is at least 16 full hours of instruction in the form
of lecture,discussion,seminar,tutorial or recitation or any combination of these
forms within a semester.

No undergraduate student shall be allowed to take in one Semester more than 18 non-
laboratory units or 20 units including laboratory work,execpt in courses where the
formal semestral load is more than 18 units units.provuded however,that a student
with an average grade of "1.5" or better in the previous regular term may be
permitted by the dean or to carry more than 21 non laboratory units or 23 units
including laboratory work and provided further,that this rule shall not effect or
alter any existing course duly approved by the university council and the board or
regents in which the normal load per term is more than 18 units.

In the third or summer term,The normal load shall be six (6) units but in
justifiable cases,the Dean may allow the students to take nine units.

A graduating student (one who needs only 42 units to satisfy the requarements of
his course) may be permitted 21 non- Laboratory units or 23 units with laboratory
work in either regular term of his last year; provided,that his average grade
during the previous regular term is "2" or better; and provided,further, that his
maximum load during the third term shall not be more than 9 units.

On the graduate level,full time students are allowed the normal load of 12 units or
a maximum load of 14 units.I In the summer or third term,the normal load is 6
units.

The Dean Or Director of the academic load of students who are employed,whether
full-time or part -time,outside of the university,provided, that no graduate
student who is employed on a full-time basis shall be allowed an academic load of
more than 10 units, Whether in formal courses or in thesis,in any semester unless
he has the prior approval of the dean of the graduate units to which he belongsn
ATTENDACE IN THE CLASS
The rules on attendance here in laid down shall be followed in all schools and
colleges and in all colleges and in all other units including the department of
Military Science and Tactics and of physical Education; provided, however, that in
the graduate studies and honor courses, the dean concerned may modify them with the
approval of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

1. Excuses for absence shall be made in accordance with the rules and regulations
of the University.

2. Any student who, for unavoidablr cause is obliged to absent himself from class
must obtain an excuse slip from his Dean to be presented to the instructor
concerned not later than the second session of the class after the date of the
student's return. A certificate of illness must be secured from the Director,
Medical and Hospital Services Division or any other government physician. All
illness causing absence from class shall be reported by the sick student concerned
to the University Infirmary within three days after his absence.

3. Excuses are for time missed only. All work covered by the class during the
absence shall be made up to the satisfaction of the instructor within a reasonable
time.

4. Whenever a student has been absent from his class for two consecutive class
meetings, a report thereof should be sent by the faculty member concerned to the
Director of students Affairs through his Dean. The University Registrar shall call
the students and notify his parents or guardian immediately.

5. When the number of hours lost by absence of a student in one term reaches 20
percent of the required number of hours of recitation, lecture, laboratory or any
other scheduled work in one subject for that term, all of which are unexcused, he
shall be dropped from the class roll. If the majority of the excused absence are
more than 20% the student shall not be given a grade of 5. If the unexcused absence
of a student reaches 20% then he shall be dropped from the roll. Time lost by late
enrollment shall be considered as time lost by absence.

Probided, That a faculty shll require a longer attendnce reuirement to meet their
special needs.

CHANGING OF CLASSES
All transferees to other classes after registration,shall be made only for valid
reasons.no change of matriculation involving the taking of a new subject shall be
allowed after 12% of regular classes had been held. change in matriculation shall
be affected by means of change of matriculation form which is available in the
Registra'r office.must be recommended by the adviser,Approved by the dean and
submitted to the registrar for assesment and notation.
