Reaction Paper
(Elements of Fire| MIT Chemistry Behind the Magic)

The video that I watch is all about the “elements of fire”, which Dr, John explain the
variety colors associated with flames by using chemistry experiments. He, demonstrate
the variety colors associated with flames, these depends on the chemical composition
of the fuel being burned, the reaction products being generated, and the heat at which
it's burning. It shows in the video the example of those like, the color blue in flames is
due to the presence of carbon and hydrogen, and the green flame is due to presence of
the copper compound and etc. those color variety it explains to us, the different
temperature of flame. It explains in the video also, the different energy by using the
“rainbow spectrum”, which explain increase of energy from “Red”, which the “lowest”
energy light, to the Violet, which is the highest energy light. The color variety in flames,
explain the energy levels. Having a knowledge about chemistry, which explain the levels
of energy and color variety of a flame, of course to broaden our knowledge student,
about the flames to know the different colors or type of flames and to know what is the
hottest flame. The video also is very helpful especially to the one who want to be a
firefighter someday, because this will help to identify kinds of flame or fire and having
knowledge like that will help them in future to investigate in fire. Since our subject is fire
tech and arson investigation the video is knowledgeable and it help us students to
deepen our understanding in the subject and in chemistry also.
